1:04 p.m. A deputy took a report for an abandoned white 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 with expired registration in the 14300 block of County Road 22, Cortez. The report states that the owner said he hasn’t been at that residence in more than a year and the landlord kept him from retrieving his property. The deputy replied that a tow tag would be applied to the vehicle for removal nonetheless.
10:33 a.m. A man reported that a dog bit him in the 16700 block of County Road 18, Cortez. He did not want to press charges, but wanted to make sure that the dog was vaccinated for rabies. The owner of the dogs said they were vaccinated, and he would ask his children if they had to call their dogs back to the property on Nov. 22, the reported date of the incident. The deputy said a follow-up report would be done.
10:32 a.m. A wallet that was found in the 11900 block of County Road G and turned into the Sheriff’s Office. The contents of the wallet were an Arizona driver’s license, $45 in cash and medical and credit cards. The city on the license was Kayenta.
9:16 p.m. A man reported that he noticed his residence, in the 37900 block of Colorado Highway 184, was on fire after smelling smoke while playing games on his phone. During the investigation, he said he last cleaned stovepipes five weeks ago and that he burns whatever wood is available. The Mancos Fire Department chief said the fire started in the stovepipe and moved to the rest of the two levels of the residence. The report did not state whether anyone was displaced.
9:44 a.m. A deputy served a woman two warrants for driving under restraint from alcohol and for passing on the left improperly. The deputy left her in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
11:14 a.m. A woman was remanded by the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St. She was arrested on a warrant stemming from charges of second-degree assault, menacing with a real/simulated weapon and criminal mischief.
7:39 p.m. A man and woman reported the theft of power tools, a generator and other items of value that were stolen out of the campers and shed at 5603 U.S. Highway 160, Cortez. The deputy’s report states the man said, “Whoever stole the items were probably, bluezers,” otherwise known as Fentanyl users, and that the theft occurred the afternoon of Dec. 4, because he was on the property the day before that. A neighbor said it was his opinion that all the stolen items were probably taken in an act of retaliation because he has seen the reporting man posting items on Facebook that he believes belong to someone else.
3:55 a.m. A deputy arrested a woman on suspicion of domestic violence and third-degree assault in the 22300 block of County Road P, Cortez. The deputy’s report states that when he arrived at the property, the man who reported the incident was covered in bruises and scratches, with blood coming from his hands. He said he was sleeping when his girlfriend started yelling at him and she was acting crazy and threw a vase at him, hitting his head, and even threw scissors at him. He showed the deputy video footage of the accused woman, who said the fight started because the man had been lying to her about using meth.
3:17 p.m. A man involved in a vehicle crash said he must have had a reaction to medication that caused him to become dizzy and run into a tree in the front of his home in the 24200 block of County Road T, Dolores.
7:35 a.m. A deputy cited a woman with failure obey a stop sign at Fourth Street and Railroad Avenue, Dolores.
