Sunday, Oct. 13

3:37 a.m. A deputy took a report for an incident involving domestic violence from man who said his wife assaulted him, dumped water on him and kicked him out of a car at the intersection of County Road G and County Road 25 in Cortez.

Wednesday, Oct. 23

5:10 p.m. A deputy took a report for the theft of a glass and metal butter churn that was reportedly worth $160 in the 6800 block of U.S. Highway 160 in Cortez.

7:19 p.m. A deputy arrested a woman on suspicion of felony menacing, third-degree assault, and domestic violence in the 17000 block of County Road 20 in Cortez. The deputy’s report states that a man reported his wife punched him in the nose with a closed fist, then he pushed her off the porch and while he was cleaning his face in their bathroom his wife came in with an unloaded handgun. The woman stated to the deputy that the couple got into an argument over a past incident between her father and her husband. She also said that her mother went through abuse and she wasn’t going to let it happen to her so she grabbed her .357 handgun because she wanted her husband to take her seriously.

Sunday, Oct. 27

10:17 p.m. A deputy arrested a man on two warrants who was turning himself into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Monday, Oct. 28

2:52 p.m. A deputy cited a man with careless driving and failure to provide insurance upon request after crashing his vehicle through a fence then into and out of a ditch on a property in the 21500 block of County Road E, Cortez.

3:42 p.m. A deputy took a report for his response to a REDDI report on a school bus driver in the 170 block of Highway 160 northbound toward Cortez. Law enforcement officers contacted the bus and cleared the driver of impairment. The bus driver and the transportation director, stated they believed the report was made by individuals trying to cause trouble for the bus driver. The report states that the matter is under investigation, and statements are being collected for further review.

Saturday, Nov. 2

4 p.m. A man reported that he encountered two male subjects in the 8200 block of County Road 46, Mancos, who were attempting to gain access to property belonging to two homeowner associations without permission and the men hit the reporting man’s vehicle with an OHV, causing damage to his vehicle when he opened an access gate. The reporting man stated that he refused their offer to pay a sum lower than what damages may have cost to repair and in their attempt to flee the area, their off highway vehicle rolled over. They left the scene when picked up by a dark-colored SUV, he also stated the men claimed to have permission to be on the property from a homeowner but they were unable to provide him proof. The case was further handled by the La Plata County Sheriff's Office and the Colorado State Patrol, and the homeowners associations requested of the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office that the two trespassing men be cited and issued trespass notices.

Thursday, Nov. 7

10:19 a.m. A deputy reported he assisted a Durango Police Department detective in locating, arresting and detaining a woman who had a felony larceny warrant out for her arrest for theft between $100,000 and $1,000,000 and she was located at Kelly’s Kitchen, 315 Central Ave., Dolores.

Friday, Nov. 8

1 p.m. A deputy arrested a man on three warrants with charges including handgun possession by a juvenile, felony menacing with a real/simulated weapon, harassment by striking/shoving ethnic inmate, two counts of child abuse/reckless injury, two counts of protection order violations by stalking or domestic violence, and three counts of assault in the 25800 block of U.S. Highway 491, Pleasant View.

1:56 p.m. A deputy arrested and served a warrant to a man turning himself in on a violation of park rule of camping without a valid permit at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

8:02 p.m. A deputy cited a truck driver with unsafe backing in the parking lot of Love’s Truck Stop, 7006 U.S. Highway 160.

Saturday, Nov. 9

5:37 p.m. A deputy took a report for a suspected protection order violation that was unfounded in the 21700 block of County Road S.

Sunday, Nov. 10

2:33 a.m. A deputy arrested a man with three warrants who called the Cortez dispatch for a courtesy ride from the Utah state line, the man was also cited with two protection order violations, one was for a possessing a knife and for consuming alcohol.

Monday, Nov. 11

2:11 p.m. A deputy at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., took a report for a found wallet that was given to a different deputy who said the person turning the wallet in said they found it on the side of the road, but didn’t specify where. The owner said he replaced everything already and didn’t need it, the deputy stated it would be sent to evidence to be destroyed.

2:31 p.m. A deputy took a report for a lost or stolen handgun in the 23800 block of County Road J. 3, Cortez.

8:35 p.m. A deputy took a report for a law enforcement assist in a Colorado State Police DUI investigation in the 18000 block of Colorado Highway 145, Dolores. The report states the deputy and the state trooper had to use a taser to get the uncooperative man to comply with getting into the troopers vehicle to be transported to the Montezuma County Detention Center.

Tuesday, Nov. 12

4:12 p.m. A deputy arrested a man on a warrant who was remanded into custody by the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

Friday, Nov. 15

1:30 p.m. A deputy took a report for a brush fire in the 24000 block of Highway 145 in Dolores where a man was cited with violation of a fire ban after a tree line caught fire near his property.

2:55 p.m. A deputy took a report for an accidental structure fire in the 13000 block of County Road 21 in Cortez.

3:10 p.m. A deputy took served three warrants to a woman being transported into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

2:29 p.m. A deputy served a warrant to a man in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.
