9:08 a.m. A man in the 22900 block of Road S noticed his vehicle’s doors were slightly open and his handgun was missing.

Saturday, July 15

11:42 a.m. A woman in the 11900 block of Road 39.2 was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass and resisting arrest. The woman was staying in a man’s house and refused to leave.

Tuesday, July 25

4:18 p.m. A woman at the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., was remanded into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Wednesday, July 26

10:14 a.m. A woman in the 10000 block of Road 25 was cited with driving without a license, insurance and registration.

Thursday, July 27

12:45 p.m. A woman in the 19200 block of Road 22 found the rear window her truck and multiple windows on her van were smashed.

6:43 p.m. A man in the 3400 block of Colorado Highway 184 was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving with a revoked license and failure to drive in a single lane.

Friday, July 28

4:57 a.m. A man at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was arrested on two warrants and on suspicion of resisting arrested and reckless driving.

Saturday, July 29

4:30 p.m. A person ran into a gate in the 41000 block of Colorado Highway 184 and pulled a bolt out.

Tuesday, Aug. 1

1:28 p.m. A man in the 17900 block if Road 15 noticed 34 sprinkler heads and nozzles were missing from his side roll irrigation system. The total estimated cost of repairs is $907.40.

Wednesday, Aug. 2

10:22 a.m. A man at the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., was arrested on three warrants.

11:52 a.m. A man in the 8600 block of Road 25 reported that a handgun went missing in August of 2022 during a move from his old residence on Road 23.

Thursday, Aug. 3

4:21 p.m. A sergeant found a truck in the 11000 block of Road 29 matching the description of a truck involved in a hit and run. The information was passed onto the Colorado State Patrol who arrested the man who owns the truck.

Sunday, Aug. 6

5:05 a.m. A woman in the 23100 block of Road G was arrested on suspicion of burglary, assault, menacing, criminal trespass, theft and resisting arrest. The woman had gone to her sister’s trailer earlier in the morning, slapped her sister and tried to take things. The woman came back when her sister left and cut a lock to take more things. While the officers were taking the report from the sister, the woman returned and made threats.

7:23 p.m. An intoxicated woman breaking things at a home in the 28200 block of U.S. Highway 160 was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order.

Monday, Aug. 7

2:48 p.m. Sheriff Steven Nowlin and two deputies provided traffic control for the Cortez Fire Protection District in the 2900 block of U.S. Highway 160. The fire might have been started by a crew building a fence gate. No charges were pursued per the request of the sheriff.
