8:34 p.m. A woman in the 10200 block of Road G talking to an officer over the phone about a restraining order had her phone line disconnected by another woman in the home. The women argued over the operation of the air-conditioning unit, and the second woman asked for a man to disconnect the unit from the outside so the first woman could not use it. The man came into the home when he heard yelling and was punched in the face and then chest by a man in the house. The first man grabbed a broom and the two men got into a physical fight. The two women continued to argue, and the first shoved past the second to get into a room and lock herself in. The fight between the men ended and the second women accused the first woman of hitting her. The second man took up a fire poker to try run down the hallway to attack the first woman but a third woman in the house blocked him. The second man then threatened the first man with the poker by acting as if he was going to swing it. The first man grabbed a kitchen knife and wielded it as protection. Officers arrived around this time, separated and questioned everyone in the home. The third woman had taken video of the fights and the officers reviewed it. The second man told officers he had held the poker and was arrested on suspicion of menacing.
3:09 p.m. A man was seen driving a stolen truck in the 12600 block of Road 44. The man was detained with handcuffs and searched for weapons. The man waived his Miranda rights and told the officer he was borrowing the truck from a friend to haul a trailer he was trying to buy from the friend. The friend had given permission for the man to use the truck but there was a dispute on how. The officer released the man and did not pursue charges as he determined this was a civil matter.
1:45 a.m. A man driving behind an officer in the 17000 block of Colorado Highway 145 was following too close, abruptly changing speeds and swerving. The officer pulled over to the side of the road and let the man pass. The officer then pulled the man over in the 16000 block of Colorado Highway 175. The man did not perform voluntary roadside maneuvers satisfactorily and was cited with DUI. The man and truck was released to family members.
9:25 a.m. A man driving on Road G stopped at the intersection Road 24.8 and Road G as there was a vehicle in the intersection. The woman driving the vehicle backed up and hit the man. The woman offered to pay damages as she did not have insurance. When the man went to call a state trooper, the woman drove off. An officer headed to the scene was passed by the woman and he fooled her. The woman ran a stop sign at the intersection of Road 27 and Hawkins Street and was pulled over in front of North Dolores Road. The woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI, financial responsibility in a car crash, weaving and failure to report an accident. The woman was released to a sober party.
6:42 a.m. A woman driving in the 30000 block of U.S. Highway 160 was moving in and out of her lane almost causing several accidents. The woman was pulled over in the Maverik parking lot in Cortez, 455 N. State St. The woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was released to a sober party.
1:30 p.m. A man driving a tractor with no license plate and one broken taillight in the 1800 block of Colorado Highway 145 was dropping trash onto the roadway. The man was cited with spilling onto a highway and failing to display a license plate.
11:58 p.m. A man and woman pulled over in the 36000 block of U.S. Highway 160 were questioned by an officer. The man was feeling sick and they pulled over to allow him to throw up. The woman was arrested on a warrant.
4:43 p.m. A man driving in the 46000 block of U.S. Highway 160 was going over the median and fog lines multiple times. The man was pulled over in the 36000 block of U.S. Highway 160, and an officer started a DUI investigation. As the driver was suspected of being involved in several out of county crashes the findings were turned over to Colorado State Trooper who took over the investigation.
5:47 p.m. A man driving in the 34000 block of Highway 160 was pulled over for speeding. The man was unable to provided a valid license, registration or insurance. The man was issued summons and his vehicle was impounded.
9:27 p.m. A man turned himself over to the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on a warrant.
7:51 a.m. Two men in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., got into a physical fight. One kicked the other and was punched in response. The man who kicked the other walked away and was followed. The man kicked the other man again and was punched in response. Bother men were issued summons on suspicion of assault.
2:55 p.m. A bicycle was left in a yard in the 24000 block of Road G.1. The bike was taken into evidence until the owner could be found.
4:06 p.m. A man in the 29000 block of Highway 160 was arrested on a warrant.
10:48 a.m. A woman went to the Sheriff’s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St., to report her boyfriend for assaulting her. While at their home in the 29000 block of Highway 160 the man took his girlfriends keys and phone. The man then pinned the woman to the couch and attempted to stab her with a pocket knife and the knife was blocked by a pillow. The man tried cutting the woman's throat and she stopped him by grabbing his hands. The man then swung the knife upward and cut the woman’s chin, leaving a three inch cut. The woman had been unable to leave the home until he was arrested the day before for a warrant. An officer collected evidence from the home and served summons to the man on suspicion of assault, domestic violence and false imprisonment.
12:16 p.m. A man brought in a purple binder full of paperwork to the Sheriff’s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St. The owner was identified from some records in the binder but was unable to be contacted.
8:09 a.m. A man in the 14000 block of Road 33 was it by his neighbors dog. The officer who talked to the owner had to throw treats out her window to keep the dogs on the property from attacking her. The owner was issued summons on suspicion of dogs not under control.
