Monday, Oct. 24

11:48 a.m., A woman was cited on suspicion of theft. She was reported to have taken a cellphone that was left on a shelf at Dollar General, 23890 County Road G, on Oct. 21.

Friday, Oct. 28

3:17 p.m., A man in the 100 block of U.S. Highway 491 was seen speeding and pulled over. He was arrested for a failure to appear warrant.

Wednesday, Nov. 2

6:51 p.m., A man was being chased by two other men and was pushed into the roadway of the 2200 block of Hawkins St. in front of a moving car. The man was taken to the hospital, where an office arrested him for violation of a protection order that prevents him from drinking or possessing alcohol. After his arrest, the man refused to cooperate with the officer on the investigation of his assault.

Thursday, Nov. 3

1:56 a.m., A man in the 2200 block of Hawkins Street opened the door to his apartment and was attacked by a coworker. The coworker held a knife to the man’s throat before the man’s roommate noticed what was happening and assisted the man. The coworker eventually left and was found later by officers covered in blood. No charges were pressed.

Saturday, Nov. 5

12:51 a.m., The Cortez Fire Protection District and the Cortez Police Department were called to the scene of vehicle fire in the 21750 block of U.S. Highway 491. Firefighters extinguished the fire, believed to have been caused by an electrical problem, and the police officer found nothing suspicious or intentional about the fire.
