Sunday, March 18

5:40 p.m.: An off-duty deputy and his wife stopped to assist a family who had crashed a car in the 2300 block of U.S. Highway 160 and telephoned for medical assistance. The adult female passenger complained of an ankle injury, and the male driver apparently had a broken finger. One girl, age 2-3 years, had a bloody mouth. Another, age 10-12, complained of a headache. The third girl, age 2-3, was unconscious on the floor with a bloody nose. The deputy and his wife, a nursing student, assisted the unconscious girl, who slipped in and out of consciousness. The deputy said he saw no child seats in the car. He turned the case over to a BIA officer.

Monday, March 19

1:51 p.m.: A man was served with two warrants at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

4:51 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a La Plata County warrant.

5:44 p.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of driving under restraint in the 37000 block of U.S. Highway 160.

Tuesday, March 20

12:01 a.m.: Deputies assisted the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office by transporting a sexual assault nurse exam kit from Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road, to the La Plata County line.

7:19 a.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

11:36 a.m.: Deputies pulled over a man and a woman in the 31000 block of Colorado Highway 184 because their vehicle matched the description of a hit-and-run suspect in Mancos. A check through Cortez Dispatch reportedly revealed neither suspect had a valid driver’s license. Deputies turned over the investigation to Mancos Marshall Jason Spruell.

11:51 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a traffic accident outside Dolores River Brewery, 100 N. Fourth St., Dolores. A man reported his car had received damage to its front fender while it was parked at the brewery, sometime between 7 and 11 p.m. on March 14. The case remains under investigation.

6:43 p.m.: A woman was served with a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Wednesday, March 21

8:45 a.m.: A woman turned in about 1,200 rounds of ammunition to the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St., asking that it be destroyed. She reportedly said the rounds were about 30 years old and she wanted them out of her garage.

10:12 a.m.: A woman was served with a warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

10:14 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of identity theft at the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office, 730 E. Driscoll St. A man reported his social security number had been used to file for employment. He reportedly said no money was missing from his account, but that the federal agencies he notified about the theft had advised him to make a police report in case financial fraud occurred later.

12:13 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to comply.

3:14 p.m.: A female inmate at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Drsicoll St., was served a warrant for failure to appear.

Thursday, March 22

12:58 a.m.: A woman was arrested on a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

2:41 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of an insufficient check in the 400 block of North Elm Street. Employees at the Montezuma County Department of Motor Vehicles had reported on March 13 that a man had written an insufficient check for license plates and registration for a vehicle, and the Department’s attempts to contact him had failed. Deputies located the man’s vehicle on North Elm Street and removed the license plates.
