Tuesday, March 14

8:59 p.m.: Two male juveniles were issued summonses for underage consumption of marijuana and criminal mischief after a man reported that one of them had broken into the bedroom of the house where he was staying, in the 25000 block of County Road S.6 and punched a hole in the wall. The juveniles also claimed to have traded an Xbox belonging to one of their legal guardians to someone else in exchange for marijuana.

Wednesday, March 15

12:32 a.m.: A man reported a stolen vehicle on Echo Basin Road. A vehicle matching his description was found shortly afterward at the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office impound lot. Responding deputies were unable to contact the man after he reported the theft, and Cortez police said he had a history of reporting vehicles stolen after they had been impounded by law enforcement. Deputies declared the allegation of vehicle theft to be unfounded and closed the case.

4:25 p.m.: Deputies responded to a traffic accident in the 1200 block of Central Avenue, Dolores. Two drivers claimed to have accidentally struck each other while backing out of their parking spaces. No citations were issued.

5 p.m.: A woman reported she believed her son had run away from Cortez Middle School after he texted her to say he wasn’t coming home. Deputies found him about an hour later at the BMX track in Cortez.

Thursday, March 16

5:15 p.m.: A woman turned herself in at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on an active warrant.

7:30 p.m.: A woman was served with a warrant for motor vehicle theft in the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Friday, March 17

2:10 a.m.: A male juvenile was issued a summons at Ute Mountain Casino, 3 Weeminuche Drive, on a warrant for failure to appear.

Sunday, March 19

12:14 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 8300 block of County Road 46 on suspicion of third-degree assault and domestic violence after a third party reported she had punched a man in the throat and face. The man was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries to his throat that he said were making it hard to breathe.

1:45 p.m.: A man was issued a summons near mile marker 26 on U.S. Highway 160 on suspicion of driving under restraint after he was pulled over for speeding.

3:33 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 7000 block of County Road 25 on suspicion of illegally possessing a Schedule II controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after methamphetamine and a pipe were found on him.

7:15 p.m.: A male juvenile was issued a summons in the 12000 block of County Road 22 on suspicion of criminal mischief and underage consumption of marijuana after his grandmother reported he had broken several items in the house by punching them. Two TVs valued at $250 each, a mirror valued at $50 and a picture frame valued at $50 were damaged. The juvenile claimed he had eaten some marijuana just before the incident.

Monday, March 20

2:40 p.m.: Deputies conducted a civil stand-by in the 26000 block of County Road P to allow a woman to remove a shed from the property.
