Thursday, Sept. 21

5:51 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of check fraud at Dolores River Brewery, 100 S. Fourth Street, Dolores. Employees claimed they had received six checks between June 9 and Aug. 30 from the same person that were returned due to insufficient funds, resulting in a total of $379 in lost payments. Deputies were unable to immediately contact the suspect.

Friday, Sept. 22

2:04 p.m.: A man was pulled over for speeding in the 1800 block of U.S. Highway 160, near Towaoc. The man reportedly did not have a driver’s license, registration or insurance. Because he was a Native American who was pulled over on the Ute Mountain Ute reservation, responding deputies handed over the investigation to Bureau of Indian Affairs agents.

4:34 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance near Cortez. A man claimed his wife had been throwing things at him. After the man said his wife suffered from mental health issues, responding deputies gave her a ride to Southwest Memorial Hospital. Staff at the hospital reportedly said Axis Health System staff would not respond to the woman’s type of mental illness, and said the man had denied multiple referrals suggesting he place her in an Alzheimer’s disease care facility.

Monday, Sept. 25

9:48 p.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 1600 block of North Dolores Road on suspicion of driving under restraint, displaying fictitious plates and driving with defective lights.

Tuesday, Sept. 26

1:08 a.m.: Deputies transported a woman from Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road, to the Crossroads detox center in Durango.

Sunday, Oct. 1

9:51 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 11000 block of County Road 23 on a warrant for failure to appear.

5:46 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of vandalism in the 700 block of Central Avenue, Dolores. A man claimed someone had dented his vehicle by throwing a pumpkin at it. He also said someone had thrown eggs at his house several weeks before. The case remains under investigation.

Tuesday, Oct. 3

1:33 p.m.: A man was remanded into custody from Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

3:16 p.m.: A woman was remanded into custody from Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

3:22 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear.

3:55 p.m.: A woman was served with a warrant for failure to comply at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

5:41 p.m.: A woman was cited in the 20000 block of U.S. 491 for displaying fictitious plates and driving without insurance.
