Tuesday, Jan. 2

12:23 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a protection order violation in the 27000 block of County Road P.7. A woman reported that a man against whom she had a protection order had contacted her by texting her sister to send a message on his behalf. The responding deputy was granted a warrant for the suspect, who could not be immediately located.

Wednesday, Jan. 3

12:37 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear.

Thursday, Jan. 4

9:56 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a disturbance in the 11000 block of County Road 42. A woman claimed she had come to a residence in the area to pick up several pieces of farm equipment, and her ex-husband was refusing to release them to her. Deputies contacted the ex-husband and stood by while the woman read a court order to him and he agreed to release the equipment.

Friday, Jan. 5

11:14 a.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to comply at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

1:37 p.m.: A man was arrested on a warrant at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

Monday, Jan. 8

12:52 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a mail theft in the 39000 block of County Road G. A man reported two packages had been stolen from his mailbox. Responding deputies dropped the case due to a lack of leads.

Tuesday, Jan. 9

12:08 a.m.: Two women and one man were arrested in the 500 block of West Main Street after their vehicle was pulled over for weaving and failing to signal on a left turn. Deputies searched the vehicle based on suspicious behavior by the driver and found an open container of marijuana, a scale with meth residue on it, several meth pipes, several hypodermic needles and bags containing meth, a set of lockpick tools, several razor blades, a switchblade knife, a BB gun and a written list of marijuana sale prices. One of the women reportedly gave deputies a false name at first. She was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear, and on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and criminal impersonation. The other woman was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and the male driver was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and driving with an open container of marijuana.

9:13 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of Railroad Avenue, Dolores, on a warrant for failure to comply.

12:33 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to comply.

12:46 p.m.: A man was served with four warrants at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., two for failure to comply, one for failure to appear and one warrant for arrest in connection with a crime.

1:09 p.m.: A man was served with two warrants for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Wednesday, Jan. 10

6:47 p.m.: Deputies conducted a civil standby in Cortez to allow a mother to collect her children from a man against whom she had a protection order. The woman’s car was reportedly unable to make it up the man’s driveway, so a deputy gave her a ride.

9:57 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle in a ditch near the road that was partly blocking traffic in the 34000 block of U.S. Highway 160. Responding deputies identified the owner of the vehicle but were unable to contact her.

Thursday, Jan. 11

12:03 a.m.: A man was arrested at Ute Mountain Ute Casino, 3 Weeminuche Drive, on a Durango warrant for theft. Deputies initially contacted him because they believed he was gambling under age, but his records confirmed that was not the case.
