Saturday, March 31

8:23 a.m.: A male inmate at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., was served with a Cortez Police Department warrant for failure to comply.

10:30 a.m.: Sheriff Steve Nowlin responded to a report that a child found a 6-inch dagger in the grass at Joe Rowell Park, 94 Central Ave., Dolores, during an Easter egg hunt. The knife was placed into evidence to be destroyed.

6:34 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of a brush fire in the 10000 block of County Road AA. Deputies provided traffic control on the road, which was temporarily blocked by thick smoke, while firefighters put out the flames. The fire was reportedly caused by an ember from a campfire used for boiling eggs. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Monday, April 2

10:15 a.m.: Deputies responded to a report of theft in the 11000 block of County Road 38.5. A man reported he had left some tools at a residence he was building when he was arrested in connection with an unrelated crime, and they had gone missing. He claimed that a friend of his admitted to removing the tools from the residence and selling them for about $400 to a subcontractor. The friend reportedly given the money to the owners of the residence, saying he felt bad for referring the other man to them as a builder. The man who reported the theft claimed the stolen tools were valued at a total of $2,500. Deputies contacted the man’s friend to serve him a summons for theft.

Tuesday, April 3

4:46 p.m.: Deputies responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle blocking traffic in the 32000 block of Colorado Highway 184. They were unable to immediately contact the vehicle’s registered owner, and it was towed away.

Wednesday, April 4

10:57 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to comply.

11:15 a.m.: A male inmate was served with a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

11:26 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to comply.

4:45 p.m.: A female inmate was served with a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

6:31 p.m.: A female inmate was served with a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

8:24 p.m.: A male inmate was served with a felony warrant for failure to comply at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Thursday, April 5

8 a.m.: A female juvenile was cited on suspicion of speeding in the 23000 block of Colorado Highway 184.

4:07 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.
