School celebrating end of $7 million project

District unveiling new facilities

Dolores School District is holding an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Feb. 6, at noon to unveil the finished product of a $7 million construction and remodeling project.

After the 12 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony, a walking tour through the new and remodeled facilities will be held, showcasing the elementary addition, the locker room remodel, and the Science and Ag building replacement.

The elementary addition features five new classrooms, secured and covered transitions between the elementary school and commons building, all of which was completed in October 2014.

The locker room remodel, which featured a complete overhaul of the interior and new showers, lockers and bathrooms. That segment of the project was completed in August 2014. The Science and Ag building replacement features two new science classrooms, two math classrooms, one CTE "VoAg" classroom and one CTE "VoAg" Shop.

The project was funded through a $3 million Building Excellent Schools Today grant, a $3.47 million school bond, and a $555,000 contribution from the Dolores School District reserves.
