The Southwest Regional Law Enforcement Academy graduation ceremony is Friday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave., in Community Room 1.
Eleven cadets will walk the stage Friday, five of whom already have jobs as law enforcement officers. The school’s 18-week program includes criminal process, judicial process, Colorado Criminal Code, patrol and investigation techniques, firearms, driving and arrest control. Students were exposed to scenario-based training in which they applied what they learned to specific scenarios. Upon completion of the program, students will have the basic foundation of knowledge to successfully complete the statewide POST exam.
