The San Juan County Assessor’s Office and the New Mexico Department of Veterans Services will host an in-office service day to assist veterans with property tax exemptions, March 10 from 10 a.m.-7:30 p.m. at the assessor’s office in Aztec.
To show proof of veteran status, bring a copy of one of the following forms: DD-214, National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration Form 56-16, or U.S. Public Health Service Form 1867.
If filing for the disabled property tax exemption, bring a letter from the VA declaring 100% permanent and total service-connected disability rating.
To show proof of New Mexico residency, bring one of the following: valid New Mexico driver’s license, voter registration card or latest New Mexico income tax return.
