Dove Creek drops first game, Mancos and Dolores with recent losses

The Dove Creek Lady Bulldogs started the 2016 season with four consecutive wins.

But they were handed their first lost of the year by the Ignacio Bobcats (1-2, 1-1 San Juan Basin League) on Thursday at home.

Senior Alex Forsythe led the Lady Bobcats with 11 kills en route to a 3-1 win (25-17, 25-21, 16-25, 26-24).

The Bulldogs attempted to bounce back on Saturday hosting the Ridgway Demons (3-1, 2-0 SJBL), but they were swept in three sets, 26-24, 25-22, 25-23.

Dove Creek (4-2, 0-2 SJBL) will next take on the Ouray Trojans (1-3, 0-2 SJBL) on Thursday.

The Mancos Blue Jays (1-4, 0-2 SJBL) and Dolores Bears (1-5, 0-2 SJBL) also slid over the weekend.

After getting swept by Nucla (4-1, 1-0 SJBL) in an away contest on Thursday, the Lady Blue Jays fell on Friday at home to Norwood (3-4, 2-0 SJBL) in three straight, 25-11, 25-14, 25-9.

Dolores returned from a nine-day layoff to fall in an away match against Ridgway on Saturday, 3-1.

Dolores gets back in action on Thursday at Ignacio, and Mancos next hosts Ridgway on Friday.
