‘Rule to force’ people to buy EVs

Showing the Democrat administration’s bent toward authoritarianism, the Environmental Protection Agency is proposing new rules governing tailpipe emissions.

The new rules are not proposed because of pollution or risk of dirty air. It may reduce carbon dioxide, considered pollution by the EPA, but that is a rare pollution. If we get rid of it, we all die. Rather, the rule is proposed to force consumers to buy electric cars.

There are many reasons a practical consumer would not want to buy an electric car. The cost is beyond the budget of most families. The range is limited. The risk that you may not be able to charge it when needed is high. And if you can charge it, it takes a long time.

The environmental benefit of electric cars is tenuous at best. Most of the so-called environmental benefit is of the “not in my backyard“ type. Fake environmentalists won’t allow mining of the materials needed for electric cars in the U.S. with strong environmental laws. But they are fine with the mining in poor countries with limited environmental or child-labor laws. This is another autocratic push by Democrats to control the plebeians and destroy the economy.
