The Broadening Horizons Lecture Series at San Juan College will host a talk by author Robin Wall Kimmerer at 6 p.m. Friday, April 21, at San Juan College’s Connie Gotsch Theatre.
Wall Kimmerer is a mother, scientist, decorated professor and enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation. She will speak about her book “Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge and the Teachings of Plants.”
Wall Kimmerer, a State University of New York distinguished teaching professor of environmental biology, is also the founder and director of the Center for Native Peoples and Environment. The center’s mission is to create programs that draw on the wisdom of Indigenous and scientific knowledge for shared goals of sustainability. In 2022, Wall Kimmerer was named a MacArthur Fellow.
