Requests for annual Community Thanksgiving Meal close Wednesday

Area residents have until noon on Wednesday to order a Thanksgiving Dinner from St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and Grace’s Kitchen.

Meals can be placed online at www.stbarnabascortez.org/events, as well as by calling (970) 565-7865 or emailing office@stbarnabascortez.org to arrange a pickup time, which will be between noon and 2 p.m. on Nov. 23.

Over 500 meals are being prepared for the for the 21st annual Community Thanksgiving Meal, according to Rev. Doug Bleyle.

“We increased purchase orders for potatoes and sweet potatoes, cranberries, things like that,” he told The Journal.

The church has enough volunteers for the Thanksgiving meal preparations, according to Rev. Bleyle.

“At this moment, we've got pretty much everything else that we requested,” he said. But there are “always needs for the financial assistance.”
