Report pending on Rico home explosion

Disaster killed woman, leveled house

The investigation report on a home explosion in Rico that killed a woman on Jan. 23 has yet to be released, according to the Rico Fire Department.

Lisa Salliby, 42, was killed in the explosion, which leveled the home on Piedmont Street, and sent debris flying 100 yards away. No one else was home at the time.

Fire investigators suspect a propane leak caused a buildup of gas in the home, and then it was ignited by a spark. The explosion happened while Rico was buried under deep snowpack, which could have caused propane lines to shift, causing the leak, officials said.
