A new jobs report indicated that the federal Inflation Reduction Act contributed to the creation of more than 100,000 jobs in the renewable energy sector.

The nonprofit organization e2 has been tracking new renewable energy projects and announcements.

According to e2, 305 projects have been announced in 41 states since the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act.

That includes about six projects in New Mexico that will result in more than 2,500 new jobs, some of which have already been created. The projects include the expansion at Array Technologies in Albuquerque, which manufactures tracking systems for solar arrays.

U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm visited Albuquerque in April to celebrate the groundbreaking of Array Technologies’ expansion. She also attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Arcosa Wind Towers in Belen, which has also benefited from the Inflation Reduction Act.

More than 100 of the projects nationwide are focused on electric vehicles. Nearly 70 projects are related to battery storage and another nearly 70 projects are related to solar.

More than 250 of the projects are in the manufacturing sector while another 37 are focused on energy generation.
