Rep. Leger Fernández to visit San Juan County

In April 2023, Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernandez, right, presented San Juan College president Dr. Toni Hopper Pendergrass, left, with a check for the $1.1 million in funding she helped secure for the college’s student health center.

Congresswoman Rep. Leger Fernandez is expected to be in San Juan County on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

The representative will be at the First Financial Credit Union, 4919 E. Main St., Suite 103 from 3:45-5 p.m., moderating stakeholders discussions regarding the challenges first time homebuyers face in Northern New Mexico.

She orocured $750,000 in Community Project Funds for the Home of Your Own Home Ownership Assistance Voucher Program, a pilot program which will provide 25 families in Northern New Mexico a $30,000 Homeownership Assistance Voucher.

On Thursday, she will present a $963,000 check to the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office for the purchase a Mobile Command Center that will improve “on scene” capabilities for the Sheriff’s Office. The project is expected to improve public safety all San Juan County residents.
