Renowned Orchid Quartet to play in Cortez Tuesday evening

The world-renowned Orchid Quartet, a “powerhouse” string quartet, is set to play the final performance of the Southwest Colorado Concerts season on Tuesday evening at the Ralph E. Vavak Auditorium, 418 S. Sligo St., starting at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.

The quartet will be playing a variety of classical, Broadway and pop scores, according to information provided by the Cortez Retail Enhancement Association.

As part of Southwest Colorado Concerts, residents are encouraged to support a local restaurant before enjoying a concert. Tickets to the Orchid Quartet concert are available online at www.swcoloradoconcerts.org/event-details/orchid-quartet and at the door the evening of the performance.

According to their website, the Orchid Quartet met while on tour with Japanese “rock star” Yoshiki of X. After traveling the world together as part of the tour, they realized their “special music connection and chemistry,” debuting together as the Orchid Quartet in 2016.

Since then, members of the quartet have toured with Ariana Grande, Adele, Panic! at the Disco, Hans Zimmer, and Game of Thrones Live. They have also performed or recorded for Eminem, David Foster, Andrea Bocelli, Miley Cyrus, Portugal, The Man, Kendrick Lamar, Pentatonix, Imagine Dragons, Christina Aguilera, KYGO, Olivia Rodrigo, Sting, Damian Marley, Richard Marx, Alicia Keys, Halsey, Josh Groban, John Debney, The Chainsmokers, Alien Ant Farm, Frank Ocean, Steel Panther and Iggy Azalea.

Members have also performed on the soundtracks of movies like The Jungle Book, The Lion King, X-Men: Dark Phoenix, SpongeBob SquarePants 3, Geostorm, 10 Cloverfield Lane, The Nun, Bad Boys II, Home Sweet Home Alone and First Man.
