Racing season rolls on at Fairgrounds Speedway

DeVilbiss and Lewis each earn sweeps of their respective racing divisions

CORTEZ – A busy weekend at Farigrounds Speedway in Cortez wrapped up Saturday night with a number of drivers earning featured division race winners over the course of two nights.

Shane DeVilbiss and Alexis Lewis both found themselves in victory lane on both Friday and Saturday night, winning victories in their respective divisions.

Friday’s card opened with the Northern SportMods Aaron Spangler grabbing a win over Brody Spangler, Ryder Green, Andrew Fisher and Jason Spruell. In the Stock Car division, Jeramy Bradley made the trip to Fairgrounds Speedway for the first time in four years to collect the win over Race Fisher, Allen Bradley, Darell Cordary and Duane Frandsen.

Hunter Ferrell found himself in Victory Lane in the Hobby Stock Class over Rob Beagley, Kyler Duggins, Mylee JoAnn and Richard Killingbeck. Shane DeVilbiss once again found victory lane in the Dwarf/Modlite, followed by Rafe O’Brien, Dakota Kibel, Gabe Shim and Blaine Olson.

Beau Hunter got the win in the Sport Compact class followed by Katie Barthel, Ted Neergaard, Jayden Small, Cody Witcher. Alexis Lewis got the Victory in the Youth Sport Compact Division followed by Ryan Ray, Aubree Kline, Neveah Killingbeck, and Coral Tillia.

Saturday’s program again featured some of the region’s best sprint car drivers. Hunter Ferrell found himself in victory lane in the Hobby Stock feature, followed by Jason and Kyler Duggins, Mylee JoAnn, and Rob Beagley. DeVilbiss swept the weekend in the Dwarf/Modlite division followed by Gabe Shim, Rafe O’Brien, Dakota Kibel and Blaine Olson.

With only three cars competing in the 600cc Wing Micros, they put on a show for the crowd with Joshua Huish getting the win over Glenn Holmes and Kasyn Matthews.

Lewis would sweep the weekend in the Youth Sport Compact Division followed by Neveah Killingbeck, Aubree Kline Carol Tillia and Paley Tillia. Ted Neergaard would get his very first win in the Sport Compact division followed by Jayden Small, Katie Barthel, Alfred Hicks, and Dustin Craig.

In the Northern SportMods Brody Spangler would find victory lane for the second time this season followed by Andrew Fisher, Jimmy Wilson, Ryder Green, and Jason Spruell. The Stock Cars was the last main for the evening but did not disappoint, Jeramy Hughes would get the win over Allen Bradley, Race Fisher, Duane Frandsen and Traci Bradley.
