Quarter of all ballots decide Lewis-Arriola Fire District election

Slightly more than a quarter of all mail-in ballots were cast in the Lewis-Arriola Fire District election on Tuesday.

Election officials said a total of 1,958 ballots were mailed, but only 527 were returned to decide the makeup of the new board.

According to unofficial results, Douglas Muscanell and Kathryn Kay Garlinghouse, with 389 and 386 votes, respectively, were elected to serve four-year terms on the Lewis-Arriola Fire Protection District.

William Blackmer and Rick Newby, with 262 and 347 votes, respectively, will serve two-year terms. They defeated Thomas Gilliland, who received 249 total votes.
