Pueblo Community College Southwest formally announced its 2024 employee of the year on Wednesday. Lisa Molina, the director of student services, was honored as employee of the year in the administrative, professional and technical category.
She was honored on Jan. 16 with three other winners during PCC’s Spring Kickoff and employee recognition event, according to Amy Matthews, PCC’s director of public relations.
“Molina’s professionalism, integrity and empathy have a significant impact on PCC Southwest students and staff,” PCC said. “She continually uses feedback from students and staff to make meaningful changes that will improve students’ experiences at PCC.”
One of Molina’s coworkers noted the “exceptional communication skills” and “collaborative partnerships” that exist between the three PCC campuses because of Molina’s efforts.
“Maintenance of these relationships requires ongoing unity, collaboration and leadership,” they said.
Along with working as the director of student services, Molina serves on the Colorado Community College System Dean’s Council and several PCC committees. She has worked at PCC Southwest since 2018.
Before starting at PCC, Molina earned her bachelor’s degree in political science from Alma College, a private Presbyterian liberal arts college in Alma, Michigan. She also achieved two master’s degrees – one in higher education administration, and the other in philanthropy and fundraising. Both were obtained from Central Michigan University. Molina is originally from Mio, Michigan.
“She counts ‘momming’ her two young children, reading, skiing and coffee among her passions,” PCC said.
