‘Progress made on economic legislation’

Thank you to The Durango Herald for covering the Colorado Competitive Council’s recent visit to the Durango Chamber’s Eggs and Issues Forum.

I want to clarify a concern raised in a recent letter to the editor. The letter writer thought that a reference in the article to extreme politics was aimed at Democratic legislators. This was not a quote in the article because I neither said that nor believe it to be true. We have seen examples of extreme politics on both sides of the aisle, a point I did make at the forum.

I also noted that while businesses were apprehensive at the start of the session, compromise and progress were made on a number of pieces of key economic legislation.

The Colorado Competitive Council is a nonpartisan organization, and we work with both parties to achieve pragmatic public policy that ensure Coloradans have access to good jobs, affordable housing and a strong economy. We truly believe that collaboration and diverse viewpoints are the best ways to do that, and implement that approach in our work inside and outside the Capitol.
