Fashion is playing a part to help residents in Montezuma and Dolores counties with cancer.

The eighth annual Pretty in Pink Fashion Show will be Oct. 18, and 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Cancer Resource Alliance. As part of the event, Love on a Hanger will feature fall and winter fashions and a pop-up shop. Silent and live auctions, hair and makeup tutorials also are planned, along with a complimentary dessert and a cash bar.

The show will be held at Four Seasons Greenhouse and Nursery, 6 miles north of Cortez at 26650 County Road P.

“This event has such a special place in my heart, and I look forward to helping organize it every year,” Love on a Hanger owner Tiffani Randall said in a press release. “The event has grown into something that I never imagined it would eight years ago, and each year I am continually in awe of how gracious and giving our community is. I am also committed to raising awareness about the Cancer Resource Alliance and how much they can provide for residents in Montezuma and Dolores counties that have had a recent cancer diagnosis.”

The Pretty in Pink Fashion Show began in 2011 as a small event at JFargos and has grown from 50 guests to over 250 guests, Randall said.

Over the past seven years, the event has raised more than $50,000, and this year, Randall said, she hopes to raise $15,000 for Cancer Resource Alliance.

Tickets are required for admission. General admission is a $20 donation, and VIP, front row seating is $35. Tickets are available at Love on a Hanger, West View Day Spa, at the door and online at http://bit.ly/PrettyInPinkTix. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the fashion show starts at 7 p.m.

The Cancer Resource Alliance, formerly known as the Women’s Cancer Coalition, is a nonprofit that provides financial assistance to residents of Montezuma and Dolores counties with a recent cancer diagnosis. It also helps to provide free breast and reproductive cancer screenings for women through their providers.
