Many local citizens participated in the Heart & Soul project that was undertaken by the city of Cortez as the result of being awarded a grant from the Orton Foundation. The purpose of the grant was to help the local government learn what it is about our community that is most valued by residents so that as development comes, government is in a better position to guide it in a way that will align with our local values. One of the outcomes of this project was the production of a video featuring local residents. That video will be publicly aired for the first time at the Sunflower Theatre on Thursday, June 9.
In addition, “America’s Return to Main Street,” a documentary about the revitalization of Main Streets across America, will also be shown to prompt a conversation about what we learned from each video and how we might take what was learned and move our community forward.
Part of the tradition of going to the show is having popcorn, soda, and candy so these movie treats will be provided free of charge. Doors open at 6:30 with the program beginning at 7:00. Seating is limited so plan to come early.
