Kevin Black, assistant state archaeologist, will teach a class about stone tools called Prehistoric Lithics, Description and Analysis.
It will be held the first weekend in November. Students will learn how stone tools were made in Colorado, how to identify different types of tools, how and when they were used. Learning to recognize this kind of material is often the best indication of the presence of an archaeological site. And there will be lots of artifacts.
The class will be held Nov. 1-4. The hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov.1; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday; and 5 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Class will meet at the Anasazi Heritage Center west of Dolores on U.S. Highway. The cost is $12 to cover the cost of the materials.
For questions or to sign up, email Terry at Terrywoodrow@gmail.com, or call 560-1318. Only a few openings for the class remain.
