I wonder if the tone of our political discourse could change with a single word – work. Personally, I would prefer that my representatives work for me, just like most of us work to achieve our goals.

Instead, we are surrounded by shouts of fight. Instantly we envision a battle, war, loud and violent opposition, zero sum winners or losers, no compromise.

Even the most passionate beliefs can be expressed with more reasonable language.
