Friday, May 1

1:58 a.m. An officer was patrolling near a local watering hole when he observed a man staggering as he walked toward a vehicle. The man then got into a white pickup, backed the pickup and hit a parked vehicle. The officer immediately stopped the driver of the pickup and explained to the driver that he just hit a parked car. When asked if he had been drinking, the man said “I had quite a few drinks.” He then added, “Just take me to jail.” The man was then transported to jail for suspicion of driving under the influence and unsafe backing.

Saturday, May 2

6:56 p.m. One woman called police and said a man was threatening to shoot her dog. The man said the dog was aggressive toward his family and his small children. The owner of the dog was warned about the dog and issued a summons for dog running at large and having an animal that disturbs the pace.

Sunday, May 3

1:32 a.m. A man was arrested for suspicion of domestic violence after a clerk at a local convenience store observed him slap a female in the face while the two were in a vehicle. The couple said they had just finished watching the fights and wanted to get pizza.

8:21 p.m. A man was arrested for obstructing a peace officer, disorderly conduct and assault after he took a swing at on officer near the 500 block of South Madison Street. The officer was trying to help the man up when he took the swing at the officer. Once the man was arrested, because of a high level of intoxication, he was transported to the hospital,where he started to swing at emergency room staff. The man was restrained, medically cleared and then transported to jail.

Monday, May 4

A woman reported that she had nearly $4,000 in jewelry taken from her home in the 500 block of North Ash Street.

Wednesday, May 6

1:16 p.m. An officer was called to a local fast food restaurant for a disturbance. A man was reportedly assaulting a female, according to a 911 caller. Upon arrival, the ford pickup described was leaving the scene and almost hit several people. The pickup ran the stop sign and took off at a high-rate of speed. As it fled, a black suitcase and a dog flew out of the back of the pickup. The officer lost sight of the pickup and was unable to get a license plate number. The black suitcase was collected. No word on the dog.

Thursday, May 7

1:19 a.m. An officer responded to the Southwest

Memorial Hospital for a complaint of an assault. The man said he was leaving a local bar when suddenly a male subject approached him, called him by his name and said, “You sell drugs to my kids!” The man responded, “No I don’t, I have kids of my own!” The attacker then punched the man in the face and he fell to the ground where the attacker continued to punch the man in the face and broke a bottle over the top of his head. The man had no idea who the attacker was nor did anyone else see the attack.
