Saturday, Dec. 3

3:49 a.m. A man was arrested in the 800 block of S. Broadway for driving under the influence of alcohol.

11:31 a.m. A man reported a broken window on his house in the 600 block of Elm St. He told police he believed one of his co-workers had broken it because he was a “non-believer.” He repeated that “kids these days think they know everything,” and that was why he wanted to file a report. The replacement cost for the window was estimated at $20.

3:03 p.m. A man was issued a summons for possessing alcohol in a park after he was found asleep under the gazebo at Cortez City Park, 802 E. Main St. When asked for identification, the man produced a previous municipal citation. Because he was intoxicated, he was taken to the Southwest Memorial emergency room.

3:23 p.m. A man was arrested on a warrant for a local misdemeanor after he was spotted walking in the 300 block of E. Montezuma Ave.

5:39 p.m. A man was arrested for vehicular assault, DUI, DUI per se, failing to present proof of insurance, driving without a valid license and performing an illegal left turn, after a three-car crash near the intersection of State St. and E. Main St. A passenger from the second vehicle sustained serious bodily injury, including a broken back, and the driver was also injured. Both were transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital. The occupants of the third vehicle were unharmed.

6:47 p.m. A woman was arrested outside the First Street Car Wash for prohibited use of a weapon and obstructing government operations after she reportedly fired a shot through the roof of her truck with a handgun.

Sunday, Dec. 4

3:02 a.m. A woman was issued a summons for DUI, DUI per se, failing to present proof of insurance and obey a traffic signal, after being stopped in the 1100 block of E. Main St.

10:18 p.m. Two men were arrested in the 400 block of W. Seventh St. for disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and obstructing police after one man reportedly started kicking a neighbor’s car, and the second man was held him down on the ground. The first man was treated for severe intoxication at Southwest Memorial Hospital before being transported to Montezuma County Jail, 730 E. Driscoll St.

10:51 p.m. A man was arrested near the intersection of E. Main St. and N. Mildred Road for driving under the influence and driving a vehicle with a defective headlamp.

Monday, Dec. 5

11:29 a.m. A woman was arrested at Centennial Park, 515 N. Mildred Road, for harassment, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after she reportedly offered caramel candy to a group of people in the park and started yelling and rubbing the candy in their faces when they refused.

9:50 p.m. A man reported a vehicle break-in in the 400 block of S. Madison St. A window in one vehicle was broken, and the replacement cost was estimated at $120.

Tuesday, Dec. 6

12:25 p.m. A man was arrested in the 600 block of E. Main St. on a warrant for failing to appear in court for a local misdemeanor.

5:16 p.m. A woman was arrested at Montezuma County District Court, 109 W. Main St., on warrants for unlawful distribution, manufacturing, dispensing, sale and possession of substances.

10:32 p.m. A man was arrested in the 600 block of E. Second St. for violating bond conditions and a protection order after reportedly attempting to break into a relative’s home.

10:50 p.m. A woman was arrested at Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Rd., on a warrant for failing to appear in court for a local misdemeanor.

10:52 p.m. A man was issued a summons for driving under the influence, DUI per se, failing to present proof of insurance and speeding, after being stopped in the 800 block of E. Main St.
