Thursday, Sept. 5

4:27 a.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of violating a trespass order he received hours earlier at the Speedway, 921 E. Main St.

9:59 a.m. An officer cited a man with harassment at the Cortez Apartments, 620 E. Empire St.

12:16 a.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant after responding to a call for a trespasser at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St.

3:55 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of trespassing, underage consumption of alcohol and open container at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St. The police report stated the man had a PVC pipe with a string coming out of one end that was sealed on both ends, the police department requested assistance from the Farmington Bomb Squad to ensure that the capped pipe was not an explosive.

4:57 p.m. An officer responding to a reported assault at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St. arrested a man on a warrant.

7:06 p.m. An officer took a report for a hit-and-run at McDonald’s, 1322 E. Main St.

11:23 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of DUI, drugs or both at City Market, 508 E. Main St.

Friday, Sept. 6

12:14 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of violating an alcohol protection order at 118 N. Sligo St.

4:53 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on a warrant who was being turned in by a third party at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

5:02 p.m. An officer performing a welfare check on a man lying in the grass outside City Market, 508 E. Main St., arrested the man on a warrant.

5:26 p.m. An officer took a report from a man for an assault. The man reported he was kicked in the face at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St.

7:44 p.m. An officer checking on an individual lying face down in the grass on the north side of Safeway, 1580 E. Main St., and cited a woman with trespassing.

Saturday, Sept. 7

12:45 a.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of speeding 44 mph in a posted 30 mph zone, driving under the influence of drugs, alcohol or both, driving with a blood content of .08 or higher, failing to present proof of insurance and driving while license revoked-express consent at the corner of East Main Street and North Beech Street.

12:36 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on two warrants in the 10 block of S. Chestnut St.

2:39 p.m. An officer cited a man with open container and trespassing at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

4:37 p.m. An officer served a woman an insurance affidavit and notice of suspension and arrested her on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, operated uninsured motor vehicle, driving on a revoked express consent driver’s license, disregarding a stop sign, and displaying expired number plates at the corner of Trinity Avenue and Main Street. Witnesses stated she was driving on the east side of main street on Tiffany Avenue and she proceeded straight across toward the Cortez Plaza, went across the street and T-boned a Ford Bronco in the second lane, then continued into the parking lot of T-Mobile and struck a parked GMC Yukon.

Sunday, Sept. 8

12:20 p.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St.

12:49 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St.

1:29 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on a warrant at 806 S. Oak St.

2:20 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on suspicion of violating a protection order near the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 110 W. North St. The officers report stated he would request a warrant for a man whom she is protected from who also has a protection order against her. The reporting party suspected the man to be under the influence of alcohol/drugs or have mental health issues as he was reportedly making excessive noise and jumping up and down. When the officer arrived at the area, the man left the scene, ignored the officers orders to stop walking and could not be located by other officers. The officer stated in his report he would request a warrant on suspicion of protection order violation and obstructing a peace officer.

Monday, Sept. 9

9:07 a.m. An officer cited a man with indecent exposure after he saw the man drop his pants to his ankles in the middle of a field in clear view of Main Street in the 1400 block of E. Main St. The man told officers that his stomach hurt and “he had to go bad.”

11:39 a.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of menacing, obstructing a peace officer and cruelty to animals in the 200 block of N. Madison St.

5:08 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant who was turning himself into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

6:55 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant, and suspicion of possession of alcohol in the park, open alcohol container, and unlawful possession of marijuana at the Duck Pond, 515 N. Mildred Road.

Tuesday, Sept. 10

9:20 a.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant at the Pinion Project, 210 E. Main St.

1:39 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of disturbing the peace in the 20 block of N. Madison St. The reporting party stated the man threatened her life and the life of her dog because it was barking at him. Another witness stated he did not engage the man as he was working on his computer outside of the cultural center when the man started cussing at him and challenging him to fight.

4:50 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on a warrant Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St.

8:27 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving with a revoked license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding at the Easy Y, 2500 E. Main St.

Wednesday, Sept. 11

12:50 p.m. An officer arrested a man on suspicion of DUI, failing to present proof of insurance, and displaying expired plates in the 400 block of N. Montezuma Ave.

1:41 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant who was flipping people off in the 200 block of E. Main St.

3:10 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on a failure to appear warrant at the Sleeping Ute Apartments, 516 S. Madison St.

7:18 p.m. An officer cited a man with trespassing at City Market, 508 E. Main St.

9:44 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant in the 10 block of S. Madison St.
