Sunday, June 23

12:34 a.m. A man was cited with failure to provide present proof of insurance, vehicle had no number plates and violated restrictions on a temporary instruction permit at 500 S. Oak St.

2:46 a.m. A man was arrested on a warrant and cited with driving a defective vehicle and operating an uninsured motor vehicle at 600 S. Market St.

4:04 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on a warrant after responding to a property retrieval call for a vehicle she borrowed in the 600 block of S. Park.

5:08 p.m. An officer arrested a man and woman at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St., on suspicion of domestic violence and third-degree assault. The man requested that the officer call his fiance for him multiple times while being treated for injuries at the hospital. The officer stated in his report his response to end the incessant requests was, “I would, but I was going to tell her he was in the park being affectionate with another woman and beating her up,” which finally ended the man’s requests.

Monday, June 24

3:28 a.m. An officer arrested a woman driving a suspected REDDI vehicle at the Handymart, 806 S. Broadway, on suspicion of felony DUI, failure to provide proof of insurance, driving a vehicle when license revoked for alcohol-related offense, failing to yield at a stop sign and violating a protection order.

4:20 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of criminal attempt on a peace officer, vehicular eluding, driving while license under restraint for two refusals, reckless driving, resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer after leaving the vehicle of an ongoing investigation at the Handymart, 806 S. Broadway and returning to the scene of the investigation in another vehicle.

4:53 p.m. A man and woman were arrested on suspicion of violating protection orders that state they shall not consume or possess alcohol and trespassing at the Happy Valley Trailer Park, 203 E. Seventh St.

6:31 p.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant at Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road.

9:09 p.m. An officer arrested a man on four warrants at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.

Tuesday, June 25

7:47 a.m. Two women were arrested on warrants at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. One of the women was issued a summons for trespassing.

11:12 a.m. An officer arrested a woman, and two men at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St. The woman was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order that states she shall not possess or consume alcohol. One man had an extraditable warrant out of Arizona, and the other man had a warrant from Montezuma County. All were suspected of fighting in the park.

1:59 p.m. Two women were arrested after reports that a large group was yelling and fighting near the city pool, 803 E. Montezuma Ave. The women were arrested on suspicion of violating protection orders that state they shall not consume or possess alcohol.

Wednesday, June 26

8:56 a.m. A man was arrested after being discovered under a pile of clothing in the corner of a bedroom during a search for missing city of Cortez property that was transmitting its location within a home in the 1600 block of Taylor Street. The man was suspected of violating a protection order that states he shall have no contact, no exceptions, with a woman who resides at the property. The woman who was protected from the man also had a similar protection order against her that also states she shall have no contact, no exceptions with the man. Both were arrested for violating the protection orders against each other.

1:54 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant who was attempting to flee on foot. The man was also cited with resisting arrest near the Cold Stone Creamery, 215 S. Sligo St.

Thursday, June 27

2:45 a.m. An officer took a report for property damage to a home in the 100 block of E. Third St.

3:05 a.m. A man was cited with trespassing at Denny’s, 2059 E. Main St.

1:33 p.m. An officer took a report for a stolen laptop at PC411, 17 N. Maple St.

4:11 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant after responding to a man trespassing at the Church of Christ, 631 E. Montezuma Ave.

4:50 p.m. An officer took a report for a stolen vehicle at 1107 Lebanon Road.

10:01 p.m. An officer served a warrant to a man in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

11:02 p.m. An officer transported an intoxicated woman from the Oaks Meadows Trailer Park, 405 W. Seventh St., to the Southwest Memorial Hospital after responding to a call about an unwanted person. The woman was reported to have been unable to remain steady or compliant to emergency room medical providers while receiving care. The officer stated in his report that he would request a day shift officer serve the woman a citation for underage consumption of alcohol once she is conscious.

Friday, June 28

2:01 a.m. Officers responding to a disturbance call at the Aneth Lodge, 645 E. Main St., arrested a woman on suspicion of harassment, domestic violence and obstructing a peace officer.

8:56 a.m. A man was cited with trespassing at Front Row Seat, 610 E. Main St.

3:39 p.m. A man was arrested on a warrant at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St.

6:47 p.m. A man was arrested on two warrants at Walgreens, 1671 E. Main St.

7:45 p.m. An officer arrested a man on two warrants and for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St.

Saturday, June 29

8:26 p.m. An officer arrested a man at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., on two warrants, and suspicion of violating a protection order that states he shall not possess or consume alcohol.

Sunday, June 30

3:47 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating conditions of his bond by consuming or possessing alcohol and destroying private property when witnesses reported seeing him break a window at the Aneth Lodge, 645 E. Main St.

8:26 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating bond conditions and a warrant in the 100 block of N. Adams St.

Monday, July 1

11:49 p.m. A man was cited with trespassing at the Senior Center, 107 N. Chestnut St.

2:09 p.m. An officer served a man two warrants who was being transported from another facility into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

3:34 p.m. An officer served a warrant to a man in the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

7:23 p.m. An officer served a woman a summons and arrested her on a warrant at the Happy Valley Trailer Park, 203 E. Seventh St.

7:46 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St., after reports from a group of people and a juvenile girl in the park that a man in plain view of the public was peeping on the backside of the bathrooms and fully exposed from the waist down urinating on the backside of the bathrooms.

10:43 p.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant at Cork-N-Bottle Liquors, 443 E. Main St.

Tuesday, July 2

4:51 a.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant and suspicion of violating a protection order that states she shall not possess or consume alcohol when officers discovered a bag in her possession that had two mostly full 750 ml bottles of vodka and she was noticeably unsteady on her feet near Front Row Seat, 610 E. Main St.

9:56 a.m. A man was arrested at 206 S. Harrison St., on a warrant and served a non-expiring trespass from PC411, 17 N. Maple St.

11:16 a.m. An officer arrested a woman on a warrant who was turning herself into the custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

10:08 p.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant during a traffic stop where the man failed to use his turn signals while turning onto Washington Street.

Wednesday, July 3

12:32 a.m. An officer arrested a man on a warrant who was sleeping on the ground at the entrance of the restrooms at Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave.

2:57 a.m. A man was arrested on a warrant after officers responded to an unwanted person loudly working on a vehicle at the Mountain View Trailer Park, 815 S. Chestnut St.

8:51 a.m. A woman was arrested for violating a restraining protection order at 1417 Navajo St.

2:05 p.m. An officer arrested a woman on suspicion of open container, possession of alcohol in the park, littering, and resisting arrest at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St. A man and woman who were accompanying the woman were also cited with a 24-hour trespass notice for all city parks, possession of alcohol in the park and open containers.

4:14 p.m. An officer took a report for stolen property from a merchandiser for Frito Lay at City Market, 508 E. Main St.

5:01 p.m. A man was cited with driving an unsafe/defective vehicle, careless driving, driving without a valid drivers license, and driver operated an uninsured motor vehicle in the 300 block of E. Seventh St.

10:56 a.m. An officer took a report from a woman whose money was missing from her wallet that was turned into employees at Safeway, 1580 E. Main St. The report states that the reporting woman retraced her steps to her vehicle and was met by an unknown woman in the parking lot claiming to have turned in the wallet. The report states that the unknown woman’s behavior was suspicious and hurried during inspection of surveillance footage.
