Thursday, Nov. 10

7:06 a.m., An officer in the 27000 block of U.S. Highway 160 was traveling eastbound and fatally struck a deer.

7:28 a.m., A truck was found parked on top of a motorcycle in the 400 block of South Cedar Street. Someone reportedly stole the truck the night before from the 500 block of West Fourth Street by breaking the back window and drilling out the key ignition.

1:04 p.m., A man was seen lying in the parking lot of Mesa School, 703 W. Seventh St. He was arrested on suspicion of violating protection order that restricts him from possessing or drinking alcohol.

1:59 p.m. A woman driving north on Beech Street stopped at the intersection of Montezuma Avenue and Beech Street. She drove through the intersection and was hit on her passenger side by another car. She was cited for failing to yield and driving while uninsured.

Friday, Nov. 11

12:24 p.m., A man reported that a bag with multiple high-end electronics was stolen. He believed it had been taken the night before from his car in the 2000 block of East Main Street.

1:41 p.m., A man turned himself in at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., for three warrants.

1:51 p.m., A woman was seen sleeping in a sleeping bag in the 500 block of East Main Street. She was arrested for a failure-to-appear warrant.

Saturday, Nov. 12

10:46 a.m., A report of two men fighting with knives in the field behind Big R, 1319 E. Main St., resulted in one of the men being arrested for two failure-to-appear warrants.

9:44 p.m., A man was seen sitting in the back seat of a truck in the 800 block of South Chestnut Street. He left without speaking when he was noticed and did no damage to the vehicle. He was identified by an officer who found the man’s wallet in the truck as someone who has repeatedly illegally entered people’s vehicles.

Sunday, Nov. 13

8:55 p.m., A front desk clerk of Super 8, 505 E. Main St., requested the occupants of a unit removed. After asking everyone to leave, the officer ran the name of the main occupant and found she had a warrant. She was arrested for that warrant.

10:01 p.m., A man in violation of a permanent trespass order was reported yelling at a front desk clerk of Best Western, 535 E. Main St. He was taken by an officer to a shelter and cited for trespass.

Monday, Nov. 14

2:04 p.m., Staff at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N Park St., asked for a man who had fallen asleep at the computers to be removed from the building. He was arrested for a warrant.

2:56 p.m., A man who appeared to be drunk was seen walking in the 1400 block of East Montezuma Avenue and was seen earlier walking in the road on the lower 100 block of North Edith Street. He was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order that restricts him from possessing or drinking alcohol.

6:03 p.m., A woman was requested by asset protection to be removed from Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. She was previously issued an indefinite trespass order, an officer found her outside and cited her for trespassing.

Tuesday, Nov. 15

11:37 a.m., A man at the Montezuma County Court, 865 N. Park St., was arrested for a warrant.

2:30 p.m., An officer saw four people in the front of the Recreation Center, 425 N. Roger Smith Ave., and approached them, fearing a fight was going to start. A man and a woman were issued summons on suspicion of possessing an open container, and the woman was arrested for a warrant.

4:51 p.m., A woman in the lower 100 block of E. Driscoll Street requested medical assistance for a head injury. An officer arrived and arrested her on suspicion of violating a protection order that restricts her from possessing or drinking alcohol.

5: 55 p.m., A man seen arguing with the Elvis statue at Retro Inn and allegedly harassing workers at the nearby urgent care was arrested at Walgreens, 1671 E. Main St., on suspicion of possessing an open container of alcohol.

Wednesday, Nov. 16

1:02 a.m., A man seen walking down the 800 block of South Broadway was arrested for a warrant.

5:06 p.m., An officer issued served someone at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E Driscoll St., seven warrants from four counties.
