Thursday, Feb. 10

5:10 p.m. A woman reported at the Cortez Police Department, 608 N. Park St., that four fraudulent checks had been cashed at a Safeway and Petco in Denver for a total of $966.56. There were no leads.

5:27 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant in the 100 block of South Madison Street.

10:27 p.m. A man was arrested for trespassing after an employee reported he had locked himself in the bathroom of Speedway, 2320 E. Main St.

Friday, Feb. 11

10:55 p.m. A woman in the 100 block of East First Street reported her car as stolen after her son did not return with it. An officer entered the car into the system.

1:04 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant at the Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St.

5:30 p.m. A man reported that his sister broke into his home and stole items in the 700 block of East Second Street. Based on surveillance video, an officer arrested the woman and cited her with second-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespassing, criminal mischief and theft.

10:32 p.m. A man was arrested on a warrant after being pulled over for an unlighted license plate light in the 1400 block of N. Mildred Road.

Monday, Feb. 14

7:51 a.m. An employee reported that an air compressor was stolen from Big O Tires, 1858 E. Main St. There were no leads.

1:27 p.m. A man was served with a warrant at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

1:55 p.m. A man was reportedly stabbed in the armpit at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St. The apparent suspect apparently asked the man for money, then stabbed the man because it wasn’t enough money.

4:35 p.m. A woman was arrested on a warrant at Southwest Medical Group Walk-in Clinic, 1413 N. Mildred Road, after staff reported that her daughter was bit by a dog.

4:37 p.m. A man reported that a fire started spontaneously on his patio in the 700 block of East Second Street. Officers and firefighters did not suspect foul play.

6:30 p.m. A woman reported that her son’s front license plate was stolen in the 300 block of North Ash Street. There were no leads.

Tuesday, Feb. 15

11:02 a.m. An employee reported that a glass window was damaged at Denkai Thrift Store, 209 W. Main St. There were no leads.

6:23 p.m. A man was cited for making a left-hand turn into a wrong lane after he allegedly caused an crash in the 1300 block of East Main Street.

Wednesday, Feb. 16

10:46 a.m. Officers took possession of an abandoned bicycle in the 1400 block of East Main Street.

2 p.m.: A man was arrested for violating a protection order that banned him from drinking after officers reportedly found him intoxicated and lying under a tree in the 400 block of South Sligo Street.
