Wednesday, Jan. 2
8:33 a.m.: A man in Durango reported that someone had possibly hit his car at City Market, at 508 E. Main St., on Dec. 29. There was no surveillance video, and it is unclear where or when the accident happened.
2:28 p.m.: A woman was arrested on charges of third-degree assault, criminal mischief, domestic violence and an active failure to appear warrant at the Days Inn by Wyndham Cortez, at 2604 E. Main St. She began throwing and breaking her boyfriend’s PlayStation 4 console and controller because she was tired of taking care of the relationship financially. She also punched her boyfriend in the face when he was smoking dabs, a form of marijuana concentrate.
3:36 p.m.: A woman was cited for a dog that has repeatedly been impounded, on the 1900 block of Center St. The owner was cited for maintenance of animals that disturb the peace and lack of rabies vaccine.
8:22 p.m.: An intoxicated man was arrested for disturbing the peace on the 400 block of S. Cedar St.
9:01 p.m.: An employee at The Bridge Emergency Shelter, at 24 N. Chestnut St., asked two men to leave the shelter. One said he wouldn’t leave unless police took him to jail. He was taken to Montezuma County Detention Center, at 730 E. Driscoll St., for trespassing.
Thursday, Jan. 3
3:15 p.m.: A man was arrested on a felony Department of Corrections warrant at American Holiday Mesa Verde Inn, at 640 S. Broadway.
5:27 p.m.: A man driving a white Nissan pickup on the 300 block of S. Broadway was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under restraint. Officers found several assorted pills in a container and a syringe and spoon with a dry, brown substance. Some of the pills and a nasal spray in the car are used to treat opioid overdose.
Saturday, Jan. 5
6:08 a.m.: A man was sleeping at the U.S. Post Office, at 35 S. Beech St. He was cited for trespassing.
9:05 p.m.: A woman kneeling down on the south side of the City Market, at 508 E. Main St., told an officer that she was cold and that she was going to jail. She showed the officer her leg monitor and said she wasn’t supposed to be drinking. The officer found she had a restraining order prohibiting her from consuming alcohol and she was on pretrial release with felony hold conditions.
8:35 p.m.: A warrant was issued for a man suspected of third-degree assault, crimes against an at-risk person, menacing and false imprisonment. He is suspected of assaulting and imprisoning an “at-risk adult,” someone who is in need of community care due to mental health issues or disabilities, at the 900 block of Memorial Drive. The male victim had bruises on his face and told officers the man forced him to sit in a chair without drinking water.
Sunday, Jan. 6
9:09 a.m.: A man with an active warrant for assault and imprisonment of an at-risk person was arrested. He stated the at-risk person told him he raped his girlfriend and the at-risk person was the aggressor in the incident, at the 900 block of Memorial Drive.
9:35 a.m.: An employee at the Holiday Inn Express Mesa Verde-Cortez, at 2121 E. Main St., reported a cold hit-and-run. There are no leads or suspects.
10:03 p.m.: A man was issued a trespass and shoplifting summons for stealing a bottle of mouth wash from City Market, at 508 E. Main St.
Monday, Jan. 7
9:23 a.m.: A man who admitted to using meth was banging on the door at Vista Mesa Assisted Living, at 1206 N. Mildred Road. Two people at the nursing home said they were scared. He was arrested for violating a protection order stating he cannot use controlled substances.
6:58 p.m.: A man was arrested for disturbing the peace for yelling and cussing in the area of E. North St. and N. Ash St.
