Wednesday, Sept. 22

10:05 a.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St.

2:18 p.m. A hit-and-run was reported in the 400 block of East Main Street. A truck was parked illegally next to a store, and the side mirror was damaged when the owner returned.

2:38 p.m. An assault was reported in the 300 block of North Dolores Road. A man’s son allegedly spit on him, pushed him and hit him in the face with a mop handle. A warrant for third-degree assault will be requested.

4:04 p.m. An assault was reported in the 1200 block of East Montezuma Avenue. A man was attacked and suffered a broken jaw, but did not report the incident for one month. The suspect was a bald, skinny white man wearing a hat.

Thursday, Sept. 23

12:28 a.m. A woman was arrested on an active warrant for failure to appear in the 20 block of East Empire Street after she allegedly caused a disturbance at her mother’s house. A breath test indicated a level above the legal limit.

11:50 a.m. A wallet was reported stolen at Safeway, 1580 E. Main St. The wallet was then used to attempt purchases at Walmart.

2:01 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of driving on a revoked license in the 1700 block of East Seventh Street. He attempted to elude police and hide behind a shed. Meth and hydrocodone were found where he was hiding.

8:51 p.m. A man turned himself in on warrants for failure to comply and failure to appear at Montezuma County bond window, 730 E. Driscoll St.

Friday, Sept. 24

12:15 a.m. A man was arrested on a warrant for failure to comply in the 600 block of East Main Street. Officers were investigating reports of a disturbance.

1:05 a.m. A man was arrested on two warrants in the 600 block of East Main Street. Officers were investigating reports of a disturbance and contacted the man. He became combative and was subdued. He was also cited on suspicion of violating a protection order by consuming alcohol.

8:11 a.m. Theft of almost $500 worth of tools from a work site in the 200 block of West Third Street. There were no suspects.

11:03 a.m. A man and a woman were served with warrants for failure to appear and failure to comply, respectively, at the Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

12:05 p.m. A man was arrested on warrants for failure to appear and assault in the 1700 block of East Main Street.

5:41 p.m. A man was arrested on warrants for trespassing and assault in the 1800 block of East Main Street.

Saturday, Sept. 15

10:58 a.m. A man was cited on suspicion of unsafe backing in the 10 block of South Washington Street. The driver backed out of a parking space and struck another vehicle.

3:16 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and an open container of alcohol in the 600 block of East Montezuma Avenue. School officials reported the man appeared to be intoxicated while picking up his children from school. A breath test indicated a level above the legal limit.

Sunday, Sept. 26

12:31 p.m. A man was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in the 200 block of South Sligo Street.

2:53 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order by consuming alcohol in the 1800 block of East Main Street. He became uncooperative, kicking the car door and banging his head against the divider. He also was combative at the hospital and jail and was subdued.

4:44 p.m. A hit-and-run in the 200 block of West First Street damaged a vehicle.

Monday, Sept. 27

1:09 p.m. Formal silverware was reported missing from a residence in the 800 block of South Broadway.

Tuesday, Sept. 28

9:08 a.m. Two sheds and a residence were broken into in the 100 block of East Seventh Street. Windows in the sheds and the glass door of the residence were broken. A hammer and footprints were located, but there were no suspects.

1:12 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of trespassing in the 1300 block of East Main Street. The man had been previously trespassed from the property.

The Journal
