Monday, Nov. 16

7:44 p.m. A man was ticketed for driving with a suspended license and careless driving after a hit and run on the 800 block of Brookside Drive. The suspect said he fled the scene after the motorist that he rear-ended exited his vehicle armed with a handgun.

Tuesday, Nov. 17

11:22 a.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after police observed him walking near South Chestnut and 7th streets.

1:55 p.m. A woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant at Wal-Mart.

4:22 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant while walking on the 100 block of South Broadway after police received an anonymous tip.

11:40 p.m. A woman was arrested and charged with resisting arrest and underage drinking after police responded to a shoplifter at Wal-Mart. The woman reportedly attempted to steal hair spray, pants, washcloths, shirt, towel, phone chargers and an audio cable. Police seized marijuana, pipes, rolling papers and alcohol from the woman’s purse. She was also issued a trespass notice and served with two outstanding warrants.

Wednesday, Nov. 18

7:40 a.m. A man reported undisclosed items totaling $780 was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on the 2500 block of South Broadway.

12:24 p.m. A man reported an air compressor was stolen from a residence on the 800 block of North Chestnut Street.

6:03 p.m. A motorist was arrested and charged with DUI, lack of insurance, careless driving, running a red light and prohibited use of a weapon following a traffic stop on the 300 block of West Main Street. A loaded .380 caliber handgun was seized.

6:11 p.m. A woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant after police responded to a disturbance at Valley Sun Village Apartments.

Thursday, Nov. 19

8:52 a.m. A man was arrested and charged with felony trespass and theft after allegedly stealing $2.41 in change from a vehicle parked at Big O Tires.

9:18 a.m. A motorist was arrested on an outstanding warrant following a traffic stop near the intersection of Sligo and Main streets. The driver was also ticketed for driving without a license, lack of insurance and running a red light.

9:55 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after police observed him standing outside of Once Upon A Sandwich.

Friday, Nov. 20

11:58 a.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after he sought medical treatment at Southwest Memorial Hospital in connection to an assault.

2:10 p.m. Smoke-n-Stuff staff reported that a shopper stole $120 in cash left atop a back room desk after he requested to use the restroom. The theft was captured on video surveillance.

2:41 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after police observed him walking on the 500 block of East Main Street.

4:35 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after police observed him walking on the 200 block of East Main Street.

9:13 p.m. A man was arrested on two outstanding warrants while inside Blondie’s Trophy Room.

Saturday, Nov. 21

6:02 p.m. A man was arrested and charged with shoplifting at City Market. Employees said the man opened a bag of chips, package of cheese and bag of beef jerky before trying to exit the store with two unopened cheese packages. Damages totaled $25.

8:55 p.m. A patron at the Bridge Emergency Shelter was arrested and jailed on two outstanding warrants.

Sunday, Nov. 22

2:32 p.m. Two men were arrested and charged with burglary after reportedly stealing two fanny packs from a garage on the 2300 block of South Broadway. The stolen property reportedly belonged to a sheriff’s deputy. Authorities recommended that prosecutors also charge both men with crimes against an at-risk victim, trespass and theft.

7:51 p.m. A man was arrested and charged with DUI, careless driving and leaving the scene of an accident after a hit and run on the 1700 block of Aldridge Road. A hypodermic needle found in the man’s pocket was placed on the hood of a police cruiser, but the officer forgot to secure the syringe before driving away. The needle wasn’t recovered.

Monday, Nov. 23

6:20 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after police responded to a noise complaint at Brubaker Place Apartments.

Tuesday, Nov. 24

12:32 p.m. A motorist reported that a license plate was stolen off a rental car while parked at Mesa Verde Inn.

Wednesday, Nov. 25

6:52 a.m. A woman reported a stolen trailer from a residence on the 1500 block of Balsam Street. The trailer contained two mountain bikes, three BMX bikes, a 4-wheeler all terrain vehicle tires.

9:07 a.m. A motorist was given a verbal warning for weaving and failing to use a turn signal following a traffic stop near the intersection of South Ash and 7th streets. A passenger was arrested and charged with drug possession, paraphernalia and introducing contraband. After a K-9 unit responded to the scene, police seized two pipes, straw and methamphetamines from the woman’s fanny pack. She also had methamphetamines hidden in a pocket when booked at the jail.

1:11 p.m. A woman reported that her purse and wallet were stolen from a vehicle parked at a residence on the 1000 block of Balsam Street after someone busted the driver’s window. The woman’s stolen debit card and credit car were subsequently used to make purchases at two area convenience stores and Wal-Mart.

5:53 p.m. A man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and violating a protection order after reportedly punching one man and choking another man near the Cortez Public Library. The physical altercation reportedly resulted over stolen beer.

Friday, Nov. 27

7:19 a.m. A motorist was arrested and charged with drug possession, paraphernalia, careless driving, weaving and lack of insurance after crashing a vehicle at Denny Park Lake. Police seized a spoon, screwdriver, pipe, straws, prescription pills and .9 grams of methamphetamine from the driver’s purse. The woman admitted to snorting pain pills at a party the night before.

10:06 a.m. Two flower barrels were reportedly stolen from Forget Me Not Antiques.

12:28 p.m. A woman reported that a bicycle with flat tire was stolen from her residence on the 300 block of East Montezuma Avenue.

2:16 p.m. A woman reported that a basketball goal valued at $300 was stolen from her residence on the 600 block of Detroit Avenue.

8:55 p.m. An arrest warrant was issued for a man after eluding authorities in a high chase. Driving on the wrong side of the road, the suspect nearly collided with a police cruiser on Broadway near Burger King. With speeds topping 50 mph, a chase ensued through Sikis Village. The pursuit subsequently continued south on U.S. 160 at speeds topping 100 mph until the suspect crashed along the 6000 block. A K-9 unit was called to the scene, but the suspect wasn’t located. Seven gold coins were seized from the glove box.

9:33 p.m. A motorist struck a deer on Hwy. 145 near Rampart Street.

Saturday, Nov. 28

10 a.m. Coin machines and light fixtures were reportedly vandalized at the 1st Street Car Wash. Damages were estimated at nearly $1,500.

1:25 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after police observed him walking through City Park.

6:50 p.m. A man and woman were arrested and charged with child abuse after police responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on the 200 block of West Downey Street. Police noted that five children were living inside the unheated, unfurnished home, and that feces appeared to smeared on the bathroom walls. Social services were notified, and the children were later released to a relative.

10:49 p.m. A motorist was arrested and charged with DUI and driving in a center lane following a traffic stop on East Main Avenue.

Sunday, Nov. 29

1:51 a.m. A motorist was arrested and charged with DUI, lack of insurance, speeding and weaving following a traffic stopped along East Main Street.

6:40 p.m. A woman reported that her common law husband hit her in the head busting her eardrum after an argument over a vehicle at their home on the 600 block of East 2nd Street. No charges were field after police learned that the woman started the physical altercation. The case was forwarded to prosecutors for review.

8:13 p.m. Police were dispatched to Southwest Memorial Hospital for a possible assault after a man sought medical treatment for a bloody lip. The alleged victim reported that he was jumped by unknown assailants and hit three times in the face while walking on Hwy. 145 north of Dolores.

10:49 p.m. A man was arrested on an outstanding warrant after police observed him driving on South Madison Street.
