8:44 a.m. An officer in the 800 block of East Main Street observed a man who had an active warrant. The officer arrested and left him in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
8:48 a.m. An officer filed a report about a traffic crash at Beech Street and Montezuma Avenue.
3:49 p.m. An officer was called to the 100 block of Fillmore Street for a collision. A Jeep with a trailer hit the rear end of a parked SUV. The officer filed a report.
4:53 p.m. An officer was called to City Market, 508 E. Market St., about a reported shoplifting. An employee reported witnessing a woman eating a Hostess Apple Pie without paying for it. An employee questioned the woman about the incident and noticed she was standing in a large puddle of fluid that trailed down the aisle as the woman walked away. The employee believed the suspect was urinating. The woman left the store without paying for the apple pie. The woman later returned in different clothing, and employees said she ate a large sub sandwich, a bag of Fritos and another Hostess Apple Pie. Employees questioned her, and she appeared to be highly intoxicated. An officer encountered a woman matching the employees’ description near Liquid Assets. She was intoxicated and could not provide identification. The woman was also in possession of a new bottle of Epic vodka. The woman was issued a summons for theft and disorderly conduct.
Wednesday, Oct. 9
11:01 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., to serve four active warrants to a man. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
2:46 p.m. An officer was called to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a reported shoplifting. A store asset protection employee reported several shoplifting incidents by a store employee. The officer issued the woman a summons for shoplifting.
Sunday, Oct. 13
2:03 a.m. An officer was called to the 100 block of South Linden Street about a possible drunken driver. Another officer had stopped a woman after he witnessed her vehicle traveling in the wrong lane. The woman also had turned off the vehicle’s lights before parking. She also drove into a fence while parking. The woman failed several roadside sobriety tests. She was issued a summons for DUI, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, failing to drive on the correct lane of traffic, operating an uninsured vehicle and driving with a restrained license. She was also arrested on three active warrants. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
9:21 a.m. An officer in the 1500 block of Mildred Road witnessed a vehicle failing to stop at a stop sign. The officer stopped the vehicle. A female passenger in the car had an active warrant for her arrest out of San Juan County, New Mexico. The woman was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
4:55 p.m. An officer was called to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a report of a stolen purse. Video surveillance showed a woman taking the purse and going through it near a soda machine. The purse was then left in a restroom. The suspect used a credit card from the purse. The woman was arrested and issued a summons for suspicion of identity theft and theft. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
Monday, Oct. 14
8:48 p.m. An officer was called to Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., about a shoplifting report. An employee witnessed an intoxicated man put on a hoodie, valued at $9.96, and attempt to leave the store without paying. The man had been asked to leave the store, but he had returned, and store employees wished to press charges. The man was issued a summons for shoplifting and trespassing. The man was also issued a non-expiring trespass notice barring him from Walmart.
