Sunday, Jan. 7

8:43 p.m.: An employee was arrested at McDonald’s, 1322 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing and underage consumption of alcohol after he was told to leave the restaurant earlier in the day. Restaurant employees reported he had come to work intoxicated and refused to leave.

8:52 p.m.: A woman was issued a summons on suspicion of shoplifting at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., after store employees claimed she had tried to steal a pair of leggings and a pair of children’s jeans, valued at $25.94 total.

Tuesday, Jan. 9

11:24 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

5:54 p.m.: A man was served with a warrant at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

8:29 p.m.: A man was arrested at Conoco Gas Station, 302 W. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

11:20 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Holiday Inn, 2121 E. Main St., on suspicion of harassment and domestic violence after police responded to a report of a disturbance between her and her girlfriend. The girlfriend reportedly had a bloody nose and scratches on her face, but told responding officers nothing had happened. The girlfriend declined to press charges against the suspect, but police arrested her based on the injuries and blood found in the room that suggested a fight had occurred. The girlfriend was also arrested on a municipal warrant.

Wednesday, Jan. 10

10:07 a.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on three warrants for failure to appear on local felony charges.

11:23 a.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Recreation Center, 425 N. Roger Smith Ave., on a municipal warrant.

11:58 a.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of destroying private property at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., after police responded to a report of a fight in the parking lot. A woman claimed the man had pushed a man onto the hood of her vehicle and thrown a bicycle at him, scratching the vehicle’s paint.

2:17 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of East Main Street on a Utah warrant for failure to appear on a larceny charge. He reportedly refused to get in the arresting officer’s patrol vehicle, and the officer struck him in the leg three times to force him into the backseat. The man was cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital before being taken to jail, due to severe intoxication.

6:23 p.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct at City Market, 508 E. Main St., after a pharmacy employee reported he had yelled and thrown loose change at her after she told him he needed to wait in line for his prescription. The man also reportedly knocked items off the store shelves, hit an electronic surveillance stand and knocked over a trash can outside, which employees said had caused about $800 in damage.

Thursday, Jan. 11

12:19 p.m.: A woman was cited in the 400 block of North Market Street on suspicion of keeping an animal that disturbed the peace and a dog at-large violation after police responded to a report that her dog had been running and chasing passersby in the area. A responding officer reportedly chased the dog out of a neighbor’s chicken yard before locating its owner and issuing her the summons.

3:03 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of South Park Street on two warrants for failure to appear on local felony charges.

Friday, Jan. 12

1 a.m.: A man was arrested outside Manaugh Elementary School, 300 E. Fourth St., on three warrants for failure to appear on local misdemeanor charges.

11:09 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., on two warrants for failure to appear on local felony charges.

4:58 p.m.: Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 100 block of South Market Street. A woman reported all four tires on her uncle’s vehicle had been slashed and a window had been broken. The man and his niece both said they suspected the man’s ex-girlfriend, but responding officers were unable to immediately contact her. The case remains under investigation.

Saturday, Jan. 13

10:05 a.m.: Police responded to a report of stolen property at the Cortez Recreation Center, 425 N. Roger Smith Ave. A man reported someone had stolen his cellphone, valued at $400, and a toiletries bag out of the men’s locker room. The case remains under investigation.

3:53 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Wendy’s, 221 E. Main St., on suspicion of theft after police responded to a report that two men were dragging another man through the alley and taking things out of his pockets. Responding officers found $41 in cash under a cinder block in the alley, and witnesses claimed they had seen the suspect put it there after taking it out of the man’s pockets. The alleged victim was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital because he was unconscious from severe intoxication. The suspect was also medically cleared at the hospital due to severe intoxication. The third man was released because officers could not find evidence that he had stolen anything from the unconscious man.

11:51 p.m.: A man was arrested at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., on two Montezuma County warrants and two municipal warrants, and on suspicion of trespassing and violating bond conditions.

Sunday, Jan. 14

12:33 a.m.: A man was issued a summons at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., on suspicion of abusing toxic vapors after store employees reported he had been huffing a bag of industrial glue, which they believed he had stolen from the store, in the restroom and had refused to leave. The man was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for treatment of the effects of the glue.

3:04 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 600 block of East Main Street on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and speeding after she was pulled over for driving 38 mph in a 25 mph zone and running over the curb while turning into the Giant Gas Station parking lot.

10:04 a.m.: A man was arrested outside Beech Street Preschool, 510 N. Beech St., on a La Plata County warrant for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

7:37 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 500 block of South Madison Street on a warrant and on suspicion of second-degree assault, domestic violence and obstruction after police responded to a report of a disturbance in the man’s apartment. A woman claimed he tried to strangle her. The man reportedly tried to pull away from officers when they attempted to put him in the patrol vehicle, and one threatened to use his stun gun if he did not comply. He reportedly cooperated with officers during the rest of the arrest, but was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital for a medical clearance after he began to dry heave in the patrol car.

Monday, Jan. 15

8:57 a.m.: Police responded to a report of vandalism in the 20 block of South Washington Street. A man reported someone had spray-painted red graffiti on the wall of a building he rents. The case remains under investigation.

3:14 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Taco Bell, 1300 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.
