Wednesday, Feb. 15

6:10 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1200 block of East Main Street on two failure to appear warrants for out-of-county misdemeanors.

Thursday, Feb. 16

6:47 a.m.: A man was arrested outside McDonald’s, 1322 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear.

8:13 a.m.: A man was arrested at Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St., on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and shoplifting after an employee claimed he tried to walk out with a box of cold medicine and two bottles of cough syrup. The officer also found a bag containing half a gram of meth in the man’s pocket, which he claimed was marijuana.

11:29 a.m.: A woman on crutches was arrested in the 100 block of North Madison Street on two failure to appear warrants for local misdemeanors and one for an out-of-county misdemeanor.

Friday, Feb. 17

7:48 p.m.: A man was arrested outside the Cortez Police Department, 600 N. Park St., on suspicion of false reporting to authorities.

9:26 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of East Main Street on a warrant for failure to appear.

11:14 p.m.: A man was arrested in the alley behind Blondie’s Trophy Room, 45 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear.

11:59 p.m.: A man was arrested at Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road, on a warrant for failure to appear.

Saturday, Feb. 18

8:39 a.m.: A woman reported a criminal mischief incident in the 1100 block of South Chestnut Street. Her mailbox had been pushed over, which damaged its supporting post. The case remains under investigation.

6:48 p.m.: A man was served with a felony warrant at the Montezuma County jail, 730 E. Driscoll St.

7:31 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 800 block of South Chestnut Street on suspicion of disturbing the peace. He had allegedly tried to enter the wrong apartment while intoxicated, and the apartment’s owner had opened the door, pointed a shotgun at him and told him to get on the ground until police came.

10:29 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 100 block of South Market Street on suspicion of DUI.

11:40 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 600 block of South Broadway on suspicion of harassment, domestic violence and a protection order violation. Her husband claimed she had gotten into a fight with him while they were drinking, and had scratched him and endangered their 1-year-old child, who was in the same room.

Sunday, Feb. 19

3:07 a.m.: Police responded to reports of a fight outside Angel’s End Zone, 309 N. Broadway. A man was arrested on suspicion of harassment and disturbing the peace, as well as an active warrant for failure to appear, and a woman was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace and interfering with an officer. The man was treated for a radial fracture in his left arm at the emergency room of Southwest Memorial Hospital before being taken to jail.

11:10 a.m.: A semitrailer driver was arrested near the intersection of Lebanon Road and Industrial Road on a failure to appear warrant and on suspicion of unsafe backing after he allegedly backed into another vehicle and caused severe damage. No major injuries were reported, although the suspect said he “felt poorly” before the accident.

11:15 a.m.: A man reported an incident of criminal mischief in the 1000 block of North Edith Street. He claimed someone had shot a window in his residence with what appeared to be a BB gun. The case remains under investigation.

11:40 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of North Park Street on a warrant for failure to appear.

11:01 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 900 block of East Main Street on suspicion of DUI, driving under restraint, speeding, failure to signal as required,resisting arrest and obstruction of government operations. After being pulled over, he had allegedly left his vehicle and led the responding officers on a brief foot chase before collapsing due to intoxication.

Monday, Feb. 20

2 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 10000 block of County Road 29 on suspicion of violating a protection order the previous day, as well as on two active warrants from La Plata County.

12:59 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of disturbing the peace after he allegedly urinated outside the restrooms in City Park, 802 E. Main St.

4:44 p.m.: A woman was issued a summons on suspicion of shoplifting at Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St. Store employees said a 1.5 pound container of laundry detergent, valued at $9.98, was stolen, as well as a curling iron, shampoo and other unidentified items.

Tuesday, Feb. 21

1:25 p.m.: Four men and one woman were issued summonses on suspicion of open container violations in City Park, 802 E. Main St.

4:16 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1200 block of East Main Street on suspicion of driving under restraint.
