Wednesday, Feb. 22

9:37 a.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County Court, 601 N. Mildred Road, on two warrants for failure to appear.

10:53 a.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Court, 601 N. Mildred Road, on a warrant for failure to appear.

1:52 p.m.: A man was arrested at City Market, 508 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing. Store employees had asked for him to be verbally trespassed from the store after he allegedly became unruly and pulled down his pants outside the entrance earlier in the day.

2:27 p.m.: A man was served a warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

5:23 p.m.: Police responded to a report of criminal mischief and second-degree trespass at A Smile by Design orthodontist offices on 29 N. Linden St. A business owner said someone had broken in through the back door and stayed for an extended period in the entry room, leaving behind several beer cans and the remains of a roasted chicken. Damage to the door was valued between $300 and $750. The case remains under investigation.

11:32 p.m.: Police responded to a report of criminal mischief at Days Inn, 2604 E. Main St. A tenant claimed someone had broken a window, which was valued at about $200. The case remains under investigation.

11:46 p.m.: A man and a woman were arrested in the 900 block of South Oak Street on a warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of illegal possession of a controlled substance, respectively. Two bottles of oxycodone pills and various drug paraphernalia were allegedly found in the woman’s purse after the vehicle in which she was a passenger got pulled over for an expired temporary permit.

Thursday, Feb. 23

11:10 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 2200 block of Hawkins Street on a warrant for failure to appear.

8:07 p.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of criminal mischief in the 500 block of South Madison Street. His sister claimed he had broken a window to get into her house after she had told him to leave the residence earlier in the day.

Friday, Feb. 24

3:22 p.m.: A man turned himself in to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., and was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear.

3:30 p.m.: A man was arrested at Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 N. Mildred Road, on suspicion of third-degree assault. The man, a patient who had arrived unconscious at the hospital, had allegedly spit on another patient upon waking up.

Saturday, Feb. 25

11:25 a.m.: A man was issued a summons for disturbing the peace after he allegedly urinated in public outside the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St.

8:30 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of theft at Hair Headquarters, 15 E. Main St. Staff reported that he had come up short in paying for a female customer’s haircut, and they had both left without paying the full amount. Police were unable to find the female customer.

Sunday, Feb. 26

2:17 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of Broadway on suspicion of driving under restraint after he was pulled over for a broken headlight.

Monday, Feb. 27

11:18 a.m.: Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the 300 block of South Linden Street. A man claimed someone had broken the front storm door on a residence belonging to his brother. The case remains under investigation.

3:21 p.m.: A man was served with two warrants for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

5:47 p.m.: A woman was served with two summonses on suspicion of shoplifting at Wal-Mart, 1835 E. Main St.

Tuesday, Feb. 28

9:11 a.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

9:57 a.m.: A man was arrested at Cortez Recreation Center, 425 N. Roger Smith Ave., on suspicion of disturbing the peace. A female juvenile claimed he had been sitting very close to her on a bench and making her uncomfortable by touching her shoulder and yelling belligerent comments at passersby.

3:42 p.m.: A man was arrested at Montezuma County Court, 601 N. Mildred Road, on a warrant for failure to appear.

6:37 p.m.: A man was arrested outside Front Row Seat, 610 E. Main St., on suspicion of disturbing the peace after an employee claimed he had urinated in the parking lot.

8:42 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 10 block of South Harrison Street on suspicion of an open container violation.

Wednesday, March 1

12:29 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 100 block of West Main Street on a warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of possessing drug paraphernalia. Several used and unused syringes were found in his vehicle after he was pulled over for the warrant.
