Monday, April 3
1:07 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Jack and Janelle’s Restaurant, 645 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of false reporting to authorities after she tried to give the wrong surname to police.
1:48 p.m.: A man was issued a summons at the Super 8 motel, 505 E. Main St., on suspicion of disturbing the peace after a guest reported he was urinating in the parking lot.
6:37 p.m.: A woman reported a lost or stolen firearm in the 1300 block of North Mildred Road. She said a fanny pack containing the firearm, her driver’s license, her Social Security card and a credit card had gone missing from her vehicle. The case remains under investigation.
8:54 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1 block of South Harrison Street on suspicion of being intoxicated in the roadway and violating a protection order. The responding officer exposed the man to a stun gun in his leg for five seconds after he allegedly resisted arrest and refused to get into a patrol car.
9:31 p.m.: A man was arrested at Aneth Lodge, 645 E. Main St., on suspicion of driving under revocation as a habitual traffic offender and failure to obey traffic controls.
Tuesday, April 4
12:59 a.m.: A man was arrested at Wal-Mart, 1836 E. Main St., on suspicion of trespassing and shoplifting. A bottle of mouthwash, valued at $2.93, was found in his possession and returned.
1:27 a.m.: A man and a woman were arrested in the 600 block of South Oak Street on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, a protection order violation and failure to stop at a stop sign. About 2.5 grams of meth were found in the man’s vehicle, along with a glass pipe.
3:49 a.m.: A woman was arrested at Best Western, 535 E. Main St., on suspicion of violating bond conditions after hotel staff reported she was intoxicated and refused to leave.
10:12 a.m.: A woman reported a theft and incident of criminal mischief in the 600 block of East Third Street. She claimed someone had cut her fence and stolen two lawnmowers and a go-cart, valued at about $750 total. The case remains under investigation.
1:03 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 800 block of East Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of tampering with physical evidence and littering after police officers watched him throw what they believed was an alcoholic beverage container onto the roof of the Cortez Public Library. While the police officers transported the man to Southwest Memorial Hospital for a medical clearance due to a possible injured ankle, he allegedly threw himself on the ground, yelled at other patients and tried to run away from officers and medical staff.
12:31 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1100 block of East Main Street on a warrant for failure to appear and on suspicion of violating a protection order after the car he was riding in was pulled over for a defective headlight, a cracked windshield and a missing front license plate.
3:27 p.m.: A man reported the theft of his car’s license plate, which he believed had gone missing at City Market, 508 E. Main St. The case remains under investigation.
5:07 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Montezuma County District Court on suspicion of contempt.
6:22 p.m.: A man was arrested at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St., on suspicion of trespassing after library staff reported he was intoxicated and refused to leave.
9:15 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of East Main Street on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se, child abuse, driving with a canceled or denied license, displaying expired temporary registration, failure to provide a forward facing child car seat and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a vehicle. When he was pulled over after leaving the Cork ’N’ Bottle liquor store parking lot, he had a small child riding in his car. He also asked responding officers to take him to jail right away because it was warm and his house had no heat.

12:27 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 300 block of North Adams Street on suspicion of DUI and possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle.
