Saturday, July 22

2:08 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 10 block of East Main Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a DUI charge and on suspicion of criminal impersonation, DUI, driving under restraint, failing to present proof of insurance and making a right turn from the wrong lane. The man reportedly gave his brother’s name to responding officers when he was pulled over, but they discovered his real name when he handed them a pay stub as proof of his address. A glass pipe and a container of marijuana were found in his vehicle.

3:21 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 100 block of East First Street on suspicion of obstructing a police officer after he was pulled over for to being a possible suspect in a gun theft. When officers confronted him about the theft, he reportedly took off running, but stopped when officers caught up with him. The theft case remains under investigation.

10:59 a.m.: Police responded to a report of a vehicle break-in in the 400 block of West Sixth Street. A woman said someone had entered her vehicle and taken about $60 in cash and a small black purse containing her driver’s license, social security card, bank card, insurance cards, checkbook and several pens. She said the purse was worth between $50 and $60. There was no sign of forced entry on the vehicle. The case remains under investigation.

9:47 p.m.: Two women were issued summonses on suspicion of disturbing the peace in the 800 block of South Chestnut Street. Witnesses claimed the two women were punching each other in an apartment complex parking lot and one of them had knocked the other’s head against a car. When officers arrived, one woman was reportedly limping, but neither appeared to be seriously injured.

10:56 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 600 block of East Montezuma Avenue on suspicion of DUI, failure to present proof of insurance, driving under restraint and driving with defective tail lamps.

Sunday, July 23

1:40 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 900 block of East Driscoll Street on suspicion of two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of an illegal weapon and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police responded to the area after a woman reported someone had broken into her garage and run to a nearby vehicle. When they found a vehicle matching the woman’s description, officers reportedly drew their guns and ordered all its occupants to get out. Four juveniles were in the car along with the man, but none of them were charged with a crime. The car reportedly contained two potted marijuana plants and a backpack containing $1,000 in cash, two sets of brass knuckles, two hydrocodone tablets, a small bag of cocaine and other drug paraphernalia.

1:16 p.m.: Police responded to a report of criminal mischief in the parking lot of Safeway, 1580 E. Main St. A woman claimed the owner of a car parked in front of her had damaged the front end of her vehicle and left an anonymous note apologizing for it. The case remains under investigation.

Monday, July 24

12:31 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of East Empire Street on suspicion of driving while his license was revoked for a DUI offense.

4:27 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 700 block of South Ash Street on suspicion of two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia after the vehicle he was riding in was pulled over for a defective brake light. Two bags of meth, several containers of Tramadol pills and a glass pipe with meth residue on it were found in the vehicle and on the man’s person.

5:33 p.m.: A woman was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. Store employees claimed she had stolen office supply items valued at $51.05 total.

8:15 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 800 block of North Broadway on a warrant for failure to comply on a local misdemeanor charge, and another man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order, false reporting to authorities and resisting arrest. Police first responded to the area after a report that the men were intoxicated in the road. The second man reportedly gave a false name when officers first contacted him and resisted their efforts to place him in a patrol vehicle when he was arrested. Both men were medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication, and the second man was also treated for a large scrape on his head.

10:51 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 200 block of East Main Street on suspicion of DUI and driving without clearly visible license plates.

Tuesday, July 25

10:04 a.m.: A man was served with a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St.

12:50 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 700 block of East Montezuma Avenue on a misdemeanor warrant and on suspicion of violating a protection order. A used pipe and a bag of marijuana were found in his possession.

6:45 p.m.: A man was arrested at Ute Mountain Motel, 531 S. Broadway, on two warrants for failure to appear on local misdemeanor charges.
