Saturday, Sept. 23

1:41 a.m.: A man was arrested at Econolodge, 2020 E. Main St., on suspicion of third-degree assault, domestic violence and violation of a protection order after his girlfriend reported he had punched her several times in the stomach and the face, causing visible bruises. The girlfriend was also arrested on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

4:59 a.m.: A woman was arrested outside Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge after she and a man were asked to leave the Holiday Inn. She was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication.

10:54 a.m.: A woman was arrested at Centennial Park, 800 E. Montezuma Ave., on a warrant for failure to appear on an out-of-county misdemeanor. A man who was present claimed he had been assaulted by another woman who had driven off in a red sedan. The man was treated by medics on-scene for several bleeding scratch marks on his face, but he was not transported to the hospital. The assault case is still under investigation.

Sunday, Sept. 24

2:09 p.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of shoplifting at City Market, 508 E. Main St., after store employees claimed he had tried to steal potato chips, dip, lotion, deodorant, personal lubricant and body spray, valued at $31.14 total, by concealing the items in his pockets. The man reportedly said his girlfriend had just broken up with him, and he was hungry.

5:59 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 700 block of East Montezuma Avenue on three warrants for failure to appear on local misdemeanor charges.

6:30 p.m.: A woman was arrested at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., on suspicion of shoplifting and trespassing after store employees claimed she had tried to steal $48.23 worth of merchandise.

Monday, Sept. 25

8:15 a.m.: A man was arrested outside City Market, 508 E. Main St., on a Cortez municipal warrant for shoplifting and trespassing.

1:16 p.m.: A man was arrested outside the old Montezuma-Cortez High School, 206 W. Seventh St., on a San Juan County, New Mexico, warrant for failure to appear on a traffic offense charge after police reportedly saw him fighting with a woman. The man reportedly claimed the woman had stolen his hat and thrown him on the ground, but responding officers did not find any evidence to support that claim. The man was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital due to severe intoxication and because he claimed he was having an asthma attack.

Tuesday, Sept. 26

1 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 1400 block of East Main Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.
