Wednesday, June 7

9:31 a.m.: A woman was arrested in the 1200 block of East North Street on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor after police responded to a report that she was sleeping in front of a building.

7:16 p.m.: Two women were arrested at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St., on suspicion of theft and protection order violations. Store employees claimed they had tried to steal a total of $263.35 worth of merchandise. One of the women also had a warrant for her arrest from Lakewood. They both appeared to be highly intoxicated.

Thursday, June 8

8:13 a.m.: Police responded to a report of trespassing and possible theft at Holiday Inn Express, 2121 E. Main St. A woman said someone had rummaged through the belongings in her vehicle and had taken $15 in quarters, 20 CDs, a GPS, a radar detector and a North Face jacket. The case remains under investigation.

10:53 a.m.: Police responded to a report of theft at the old Montezuma-Cortez High School, 206 W. Seventh St. A man claimed about $2,000 worth of copper pipe had been cut out and removed from the building. As this was the second theft at the building in a week, responding officers recommended the school district install cameras in the building or hire someone to provide security at night. The case remains under investigation.

11:31 a.m.: A man was issued a summons on suspicion of shoplifting at City Market, 508 E. Main St. Store employees claimed he had stolen two 24-ounce beers and a twin pack of cold medication, valued at $26.97 total.

12:26 p.m.: A man was arrested outside City market, 508 E. Main St., on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

1:46 p.m.: Police responded to a report of a possible theft at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. A woman said she had accidentally left her purse in a shopping cart and wasn’t able to find it afterward. She said the purse contained a checkbook, four credit cards, a debit card, her driver’s license, a medical alert card, $60 in cash, a Walmart discount card, a book of postage stamps, a cell phone and a $45 phone card. The case remains under investigation.

2:20 p.m.: A woman was issued a summons on suspicion of shoplifting at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. Store employees claimed she had tried to steal a power cable, clothing and jewelry, valued at $40.27.

2:57 p.m.: Police responded to a report of theft in the 800 block of East Main Street. A woman reported her sister’s purse, which contained a cell phone valued at $900, had been stolen. The case remains under investigation.

Friday, June 9

12:38 a.m.: Police responded to a report of trespassing and theft in the 10 block of North Market Street. A woman, who said she worked for United Way Southwest Colorado, claimed a company laptop valued at $659 and several $100 checks written as donations to the organization had been stolen from her vehicle. She said $130 in cash, a computer bag worth $100 and a pair of child size shoes valued between $35 and $50 had also been stolen. The case remains under investigation.

10:35 a.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of South Oak Street on a felony warrant after police conducted a home visit to check on the living conditions of his girlfriend. Responding officers found four used syringes and a straw filled with what they believed to be meth residue in the house.

1:51 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 400 block of South Linden Street on a warrant for an out-of-county misdemeanor.

4 p.m.: A man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and on two misdemeanor warrants at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. Store employees claimed he had stolen a speaker, a pair of women’s thong underwear, two deli food items and a box of crackers, valued at $64 total.

9:12 p.m.: A man was arrested in the 800 block of North Dolores Road on a warrant for failure to appear on a local misdemeanor charge.

10:18 p.m.: A man was issued a summons in the 2200 block of East Main Street on suspicion of DUI, failing to yield proceeding from a stop sign and careless driving. He was pulled over after a police officer saw his vehicle jump the curb at high speed to avoid another car, swerve back onto the road and then strike the curb again. The man’s vehicle blew out a tire in the process, causing about $350 in damage.

11:59 p.m.: A woman was arrested in the 600 block of West Fifth Street on five local warrants for failure to comply after the vehicle in which she was a passenger was pulled over for a defective brake light. The driver was given a verbal warning for the brake light.
