In response to a recent letter in The Durango Herald, I would like all motorists to know that pedestrians are just as careless as some motorists. Every time I visit Durango, I must alter my driving technique to avoid running down a pedestrian. This happens more than once each visit.
Pedestrians ignoring the traffic signals is as much a problem as the motorists. If one person decides to walk against traffic, then a whole herd of others follows. Jaywalking is another problem. The pedestrian mentality seems to be, "they have to stop for me regardless of where I am."
I suggest you park your walking shoes and drive your vehicle around, and you will soon see what I am talking about.
