Retired National Park Superintendent Fred Fagergren shares memories of growing up in and working at the National Parks, including Mesa Verde on Friday, June 17 at 7 p.m. at the Chapin Mesa Museum.
Fagergren will also offer a glimpse into his father’s park service career. This presentation is part of the 2016 Four Corners Lecture Series.
Following in the footsteps of his father, Fred C. Fagergren, he Fagergren launched his own career with the park service, which spanned 34 years and included working at Chiricahua, Florissant Fossil Beds, and Mound City Group National Monuments; Saguaro, Rocky Mountain, and Bryce Canyon National Parks; and Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site, National Capital Parks in Washington, D.C., and Big Cypress National Preserve. His 42-year park service career included serving as superintendent at Grand Teton and Petrified Forest National Parks and as the midwest regional director.
The Four Corners Lecture Series features presentations about the archaeology, current Native American cultures, history, and natural resources of this spectacular area. All programs are free and open to the public.
