One man was in custody Saturday after shots were fired Saturday in the Forest Lakes subdivision north of Bayfield.

A report of someone discharging firearms in the subdivision was called in at 5:35 p.m. A reverse 911 call was sent through the 911 dispatch center to residents in the Forest Lakes subdivision advising residents to remain in their homes, said La Plata County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Chris Burke.

“We closed off the area around the residence, trying to keep everybody as safe as we could,” he said. “And nobody was injured.”

The subdivision has since been reopened and the warning to stay inside was lifted.

Deputies took one male into custody to be booked into the La Plata County Jail, Burke said. The case is active and Sheriff’s Office continued to investigate.
