One fatality has been confirmed in an early morning crash in the area of Crouch Mesa Road and County Road 5591, near Dino’s Mart, according to San Juan County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Kristi Hughes.

Hughes confirmed that the crash was reported at 5:47 a.m. east of Farmington and that it involved two vehicles. The individual who died was taken to the hospital, but Hughes did not have information as of yet to whether the person died at the scene or after being transported. The name of the deceased will not be released until next of kin has been notified.

Traffic is expected to remain restricted until about 10 a.m. while the Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Team investigates the crash. Drivers are asked to seek an alternate route.

Early reports from witnesses claim the vehicles involved were a maroon Chevy Cobalt and a gray or blue Nissan Rogue.
